Here’s everything you need to know about the SEC East matchup between the Wildcats and Commodores, including how to bet and watch online.
Fresh off their bye week, Kentucky is looking to get back on track after a tough loss against Texas A&M on the road in overtime. They are going to face a Vanderbilt squad who gave the 11th ranked Gators a run for their money but came up short, in the end, losing 37-27 at home.
The Wildcats are putting on a show, they are 5-1 on the year, their best start since 2007 and they have every right to be elated. The offense is ranked 26th in rushing yards per game and average 29 points per game and averaging 373 yards per game. Kentucky is led by their one-two punch in Benny Snell and Terry Wilson. Terry Wilson, a JUCO transfer is having a solid season throwing for 703 yards and running for 304.
Benny Snell is one of the best backs in college football that’s not getting the attention he deserves. Snell has 699 yards and eight touchdowns this season so far. Statistically, Snell isn’t that impressive because he has a quarterback who can run and a solid back up in AJ Rose, but if you watch him you will think the same thing. Kentucky also is backed up by their phenomenal defense, who is fourth in the nation in points given up with 14 points per game, 13th in total defense and 14th in defensive efficiency. The defense is led by Linebacker and potential NFL draft pick Josh Allen, who leads the team in sacks with six.
Vanderbilt is 3-4 on the year and they play very hard every game but they can’t compete with the SEC and are winless in conference play. Vanderbilt is averaging 390 yards Per Game and 25.4 points per game this season. Quarterback Kyle Shurmur has 1,629 yards through the air, 11 touchdowns with 58 percent passing.
They also have a solid running back in Ke’Shawn Vaughn, who leads Vandy with 495 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the season. Along with a decent Wide Receiver core led by Kalija Lipscomb, who leads the Commodores with 560 yards, 49 catches, and six receiving touchdowns to along with it. Their defense gives up the same amount of points as their offense. They are ranked No. 112 in total defense.
Vanderbilt is trying to get back to .500 on the year and get their first conference win but they will have to go through a stout Kentucky defense. Kentucky is known for holding opponents under two touchdowns a game and the Commodores are subjected to not putting up points against SEC opponent except the 27 against Florida. In the Back to back losses, the Vanderbilt defense gave up 39 points to Georgia and Florida.
