Welcome to week 7 of the NFL season and the NFL FantasyDraft Optimal lineup build.  Last week we had good days from our quarterbacks and wide receivers but our running backs let us down, except for Sony Michel.

This week we lose one of this season beat fantasy teams to both use and use players against as the Steelers are on their bye week along with Green Bay, Oakland, and Seattle. We will just have to find a way to make up for the points the Steelers offense and defense give us each week.

There are a few players I already know are going to be in the majority or maybe even 100% of my lineups.  One of those is Adam Thielen of the Vikings as they play the Jets on Sunday .

With that, let the lineup building begin!

NFL FantasyDraft Quarterbacks

My favorite quarterback this week is Carson Wentz of the Eagles as they play host to the Carolina Panthers. Carolina is allowing over 255 passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks.

If you’re looking to pay up higher Jared Goff is a great option as well as he and the Rams are projected to put up 31 points against the Niners on Sunday.

A third option is Mitch Trubisky against the Patriots.  Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill torched the Patriot secondary and it is possible that Trubisky and Taylor Gabriel could have similar success.  Consider them an inexpensive stack to allow you pay up at every other position.

NFL FantasyDraft Running Backs

This week, like pretty much every week this season, Todd Gurley is the highest priced back and he should be. Gurley is the clear beat running back in the league and he shows it consistently week after week. Gurley is averaging 31 FPPG  and has not scored less than 25 fantasy points in any game this season so you know what you are going to get. Just lock Gurley in and be confident you have 30 points in the bag already.

Other backs I am interested in using this week are Peyton Barber from Tampa and Joe Mixon from the Cincinnati Bengals. Barber had his breakout game of the season last week when he took 13 attempts for 82 yards and caught 4 for 24 and a TD. Cleveland is ranked 29th allowing over 138 rushing yards per game so hopefully the Bucs continue to feed Barber the ball this week and he has another 20 FP game this week. Mixon is the workhorse for the Bengals and he gets to run against the team that allowed Sony Michel to run for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns. Mixon should have similar or better production this week. Mixon is expensive ($14.2K) so you may have to fad Gurley or find some real inexpensive receivers or us Trubisky to make him fit.

NFL FantasyDraft Wide Receivers

My top wide receiver this week is the hottest WR in football probably, Adam Thielen. Thielen has been a target machine . He also has not gone under 100 yards this season and has scored a TD in all but 2 of his teams 6 games and has scored in 3 straight. This week Thielen gets to tear up the Jets secondary who allowed Andrew Luck to throw for 301 yards and 4 touchdown passes. Kurt Cousins and Thielen should accomplish the same, or more, this week against this weak secondary

I love pairing Alshon Jeffery with Carson Wentz this week. In Jeffery’s 3 games back from injury he has had 27+ FP in 2 of the 3 games and I am really confident that he goes for something similar against the Panthers on Sunday.

Chester Rogers has developed into one Andrew Luck’s favorite targets the past 3 weeks. Rogers has gone for over 14 FP the last three weeks and had a stellar  game last week against the Jets when he went for  4 catches 55 yard and his first TD of the season

Tyler Boyd is in store for a great week against the Chiefs this week and their 31st ranked pass defense. Boys has only gone under 21 FP in one game since week one and he had an incredible game last week against Pittsburgh to the tune of 7 – 62 – 2 td.

Tight End

NFL FantasyDraft Tight End

Tampa Bay is the worst team in the league at defending the pass and towards the bottom at stopping the tight end, so my top target at tight end this week is David Njoku. Each week since Baker Mayfield took over at QB Njoku’s targets and catches have gone up and so has his FP. This week against the Bucs it seems like Njoku’s numbers will continue trending up and he should be in for a very big week.

Looking over the defensive units for this week I kept coming back to the Houston Texans. Houston has been getting better each week in regards to fantasy production and gets the Jekyll and Hyde QB of the NFL in Blake Bortles this week. If the Bortles who we’ve seen the last few weeks shows up Houston could be in for a great day with an interception or 2 and a few sacks.
