DraftKings European League Basketball Picks October 19

More from DFS

Round three, and our second week of the Euro League, finishes off today. Yesterday’s article was full of bad advice. Clyburn had single digits. Nando didn’t even hit 20. That’s enough to cripple a lineup! Let me try to make it up to you.

The money line was unusually low at 130 DraftKings points. I missed badly because of Nando and Clyburn, but still got good value out of Hines and Tarik Black.

The winning lineup was at 161.75. He built around Wilbekin, who is looking like someone we don’t want to fade….ever. Michael Eric and Ray McCallum came up big for him too.

The rotations can be frustrating sometimes as more players see the court than in your average NBA game. The games themselves are also shorter, playing four ten minute quarters as opposed to 12 minutes in the NBA. The court is smaller, the lane is bigger, and the three point line is closer, but the action is still what you would expect from world class basketball!

Guards:

Fade Alexey Shved at your own risk. He has 91.25 DraftKings points in the first two rounds, and has easily been the best player in the league. The matchup against Efes looks great as well.

Honestly, everyone else is a step below Shved right now. You can win without him, but you have to pick right everywhere. Mike James would be a good place to start. Jayson Granger and Vassilis Spanoulis have good matchups today as well.

Nate Wolters has turned in two strong games in the EuroLeague, and now gets a matchup against Fenerbahce, who has allowed the most fantasy points to guards so far this year. Nigel Williams-Goss has been very consistent, and is one of the better cash game plays out there right now.

Dogus Balbay had another good game despite a less than stellar matchup in round 2. Can he top 20 again against Khimki, who has allowed the least fantasy points to guards so far?

Dee Bost is a must play when he is getting this many minutes. He may be the most underpriced player on the slate right now. You can make a case for Leo Westermann, but he is mostly a scorer. Bost does a little of everything and plays a lot.

With Janis Strelnieks out, Vangelis Mantzaris could see more run than usual. He looks like a good buy low candidate for the next two rounds.

Forwards:

Like with Clyburn yesterday, Tornike Shengelia looks like easily the best option at forward. Hopefully he doesn’t let us down like Clyburn did! However, it is harder to ride both Shengelia and Shved that it was to ride Clyburn and Nando. Maybe that’s a good thing.

Unlike last night, there is a strong contender to Shengelia’s crown. Nikola Milutinov has been outstanding so far, and is $500 cheaper. Brandon Davies has been strong as well, and has a nice matchup today. Vincent Poirier does on paper, but not so much if Ayon plays. Keep an eye on that one.

Gustavo Ayon looks like he will make his season debut today. That could hurt the value of guys like Anthony Randolph, Fabien Causeur, and Rudy Fernandez to the point where I really don’t want to play anyone in the Real Madrid frontcourt. The matchup with Baskonia doesn’t help either.

I’m leaning more towards Tibor Pleiss and Adrien Moerman than anyone else in the middle tier. As with last year, Khimki is vulnerable on the interior. I like them better than Printezis and Joffrey Lauvergne against a solid Zalgiris front.

For frontcourt value, I’m only looking one place: Olympiacos. Axel Toupane was superb in Round 2 at the expense of Janis Timma.  The minutes for Sasha Vezenkov have looked the most safe, and he is just $3,900.
