Fantasy Football 2018 Week 7 Injury Report
By Bill Pivetz
There are a lot of players with the questionable tag entering Week 7. Here is the latest injury report for your fantasy football team.
With six weeks in the books, players are getting injured and owners are looking for any replacements possible for their fantasy football teams. It doesn’t help that bye weeks are in full force and the healthy players won’t be available. If you are waiting for the release of the inactive reports on Sunday morning, it might be too late. Here is the injury update for the top players.
Teams release an injury report every day after practice. It helps fantasy owners know which players are trending towards playing or if they need to find a replacement off the waiver wire. Most teams wait until the day of the game to report if a player is active or inactive. Sometimes, like the Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars, they let us know days before.
Regardless, it’s risky to leave your team’s fate in the hands of the team without having a backup. Unless you’re 6-0, you can’t afford a loss with such a short regular season.
There are plenty of players listed as questionable after the final day of practice, so here’s what you need to know. I will only be talking about wide receivers and running backs. There are too many injuries to these positions already that owners need to know everything about their players.
DeAndre Hopkins, HOU
Hopkins is the big one. He is the fourth-best wide receiver in PPR leagues. He was limited in practice on Wednesday and did not practice Thursday as he’s dealing with a foot injury.
He, along with Keke Coutee (hamstring) and Will Fuller (hip), are all banged up as they face the tough Jaguars defense. Deshaun Watson will have his work cut out of him.

Hopkins has been one of the best receivers this season, practically matchup-proof. This injury, if it lingers until Sunday may affect his performance. Owners need to keep an eye on the injury report after Friday’s practice.
Dalvin Cook, MIN
After not playing in Weeks 5 and 6 with a hamstring injury, Cook seems ready to get back on the field. He practiced in full on Wednesday but didn’t on Thursday. Head coach Mike Zimmer told Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press (h/t CBS Sports) that Cook was not limited in practice Thursday.
Signs are pointing to him playing on Sunday against an average New York Jets run defense. If you own Cook, you are starting him unless you have two very good options.
Latavius Murray owners shouldn’t fret because even if Cook is active, Murray should still get some carries to limit Cook’s workload. Murray may not have a repeat of last week but he’ll have some value.
T.Y. Hilton, IND
Hilton hasn’t played in the last two weeks either as he’s dealing with his own hamstring issue. He was a full participant on Wednesday but was limited on Thursday. Reports say that this wasn’t due to a setback but to take it easy heading into the game.
He is expected to play against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, barring any setbacks in Friday’s practice. Andrew Luck needs all the help he can get if he’s going to throw the ball 50 times a game this season.
If you own Hilton, he is a must-start even with the questionable tag.
Sony Michel, NE
After a slow first couple of weeks to the season, Michel has lit up the stat sheet. He’s scored a combined 60 PPR points over the last three games. He is the 19th-best running back in PPR leagues, thought James White is playing more on passing downs.
Michel was limited both Wednesday and Thursday with a knee injury. He was listed as questionable before the Sunday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs. No setbacks were reported after the game, you assume that this is more routine maintenance than anything else.
If he were to miss Sunday’s game, New England would likely turn to White with Kenjon Barner mixed in.
Honorable Mention: Calvin Ridley (ankle), Mohamed Sanu (hip), T.J. Yeldon (foot/ankle), Isaiah Crowell (foot)
It’s not ideal to have these amount of injuries in the heart of the season. However, monitoring each player’s situation and having a viable backup on your bench makes the loss a bit easier. Also, keeping the player out for just one week now will help both your fantasy team and the real team in the long term.
