Fantasy Football: Impactful NFL DFS Injuries: Week 7

With extensive coverage of the National Football League and how it pertains to fantasy sports, information about Fantasy Football Injuries to skill position players is easy to come by. What’s not so easy to come by is actionable fantasy information regarding injuries to non-skill position players. We’ll be exploring some of the NFL DFS Injuries and how they may help you gain an edge week to week.

Nick Vigil – LB – CIN

The Bengals will be without their signal calling linebacker, Nick Vigil, for roughly a month. Vigil went down early in the loss to Pittsburgh last week with a sprained MCL.

More from FanSided

Actionable Takeaway: This isn’t great news as the Bengals will be tasked with taking on the hottest offense in football on Sunday night. Vigil has been playing well for Cincinnati, earning a 69.2 PFF grade. Vigil is Cincinnati’s best coverage linebacker, which should leave Travis Kelce with an intriguing matchup against backup linebacker, Vinny Rey. Rey has a PFF grade of 34.1.

Joe Schobert – LB – CLE, and E.J. Gaines – CB – CLE

Cleveland will be without their starting linebacker, Joe Schobert, and their starting corner E.J. Gaines. Both players have been having terrific seasons, and the drop offs to their backups, should be noticeable this week.

Actionable Takeaway: Shobert has a PFF grade of 81.3 and his likely replacement, James Burgess, has a PFF grade of 41.4. In addition, Terrance Mitchell is already sidelined, and with Gaines likely out, this will now force their third string cornerback to get the start. The Cleveland defense has been good this year, and I was skeptical of the Bucs in this spot, but with the injuries piling up and the total starting to climb, it looks as if Tampa Bay could be in for a big day.

Trumaine Johnson and Buster Skrine – DB’s – NYJ

Buster Skrine has been ruled out for the second straight week, and Trumaine Johnson is doubtful, for the second straight week.

Actionable Takeaway: Not the best news to hear if you’re a Jets fan, as the back up corner backs will be tasked with handling Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs this week. This could be an advantageous spot for the Minnesota passing offense, however, monitoring the winds closer to kickoff will be imperative.

Gerald McCoy – DT – TB

Gerald McCoy was forced to leave last weeks game with a calf injury and has now missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

Actionable Takeaway: This will be an important injury to monitor, as McCoy is by far the most impactful defensive player for Tampa Bay. McCoy is one of the best run stuffers in the league, and would be a huge loss for an already terrible defensive unit.
