Fortnite Friday is a weekly review of what is going on in the world of Fortnite. We cover the battle pass challenges, new game modes and any updated information you need to know.

FortniteĀ Friday is a weekly column covering everything happening around the popular 100-person multiplayer showdown game,Ā Fortnite:Ā Battle Royale. Season 6 is buzzing along and this week comes with a few big changes.

The most notable addition to our favorite game are the new in-game tournaments. You no longer have to be on the level of a Fortnite pro to feel like one. Go ahead and tell your mom/dad/significant other that you aren’t just ā€œgaming againā€ tonight, you’re competing in important tournaments for big money.

You can find the first few tournament dates here. Get out and compete like theĀ Fortnite pro that you are! But before you do that, let’s clean up the week’s challenges.

Free challenges

  • Use a Port-a-Fort or Port-a-Fortress in different matches (0/5)
  • Search an Ammo Box in different Named Locations (0/7)
  • Ring the doorbell of a house with an opponent inside in different matchesĀ (0/3)

Chances are, if you run up on a port-a-fort, you’re tossing it at your nearest squad mate to scare them. Now you’ll be rewarded for it. The port-a-fortress is far more useful in battles, so you’ll be using these regularly anyway.

Doorbell ringing is a new addition to the game, which is a fun way of letting your opponent know you’re about to eliminate them. Landing in the more populated housing areas like Retail Row or Pleasant Park will make this challenge fairly simple. Go to the front door of any house you see someone land on the roof top of.

Battle pass challenges

  • Land at Greasy Grove (0/1)
  • Dance on top of a Clock TowerĀ (0/1)
  • Get a score of 3 or more at different Shooting Galleries (0/5)
  • Eliminate opponents near any of the Corrupted Areas (0/3)

If Epic Games could just do away with the ā€œland atā€ challenges, that would be great. These are pointless, far too easy, and a damper on the potential of the new staged challenges. Dancing on the clock tower is an example of making the ā€œland hereā€ challenges more fun.Ā The clock tower, pink tree and porcelain throne can be found by using this map.

Eliminating opponents near the corrupted areas is not overly difficult but does involve meeting opponents in these areas and shooting them before they grab a shadow stone and take off. Try to get this challenge done early, as the areas will still be heavily populated by like-minded players.

Finally, the shooting galleries are scattered all over the map, as you may have noticed after the previous update. You can find them all here:

Update v6.10 patch notes and news

In-game tournaments – Epic Games has given all of us the ability to compete in regularly scheduled tournaments for cash prizes, just like the pros! While there’s not a huge chance that the average player will end up making money this way, it’s still a fun way to add some competition to your regular matches.

The tournaments can be found under the ā€œeventsā€ tab on the home screen. Players are matched with others of similar scores through the events, so you should be playing against players at your own level.

Quad Crasher – The new quad crasher is a two-person ATV. They are scattered across the map in various locations, are slightly quicker than the ATKs are can do damage to both buildings and opponents when the turbo is engaged.

Here are the full patch notes from update v6.10.

Tuesday Night feat. Fortnite

Tuesday Night feat. Fortnite is an exciting new weekly series brought to us by Fanatics. If you have yet to tune in, this event is a fun twist on Fortnite in which NFL players and top streamers team up and play games for charity.

This week’s match up included Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and Houston Texans receiver Will Fuller. The two teamed up with popular streamers FireDragon and GubbaTV and played in games and mini-games for points. This week, FireDragon and Fitzpatrick pulled off a narrow last-minute win.

You can find out the results by watching the match onĀ Twitch.tv/FYBtvĀ and follow along onĀ FanSided GamingĀ for our weekly announcements every Tuesday morning to find out who will be competing in the event.

Elimination of the week

This week’s EOTW works as both a PSA as to what you can do with these quad crashers and an example of how sometimes a little luck is involved in getting those elims.

If you come across anything we might have missed or have any ideas on what should be included in these posts in the future, hit me on TwitterĀ @TheRealBruin. Until next week!
