October 19th: NBA DFS Bargin Hunting

So this is something new that I’m going to start with the beginning of the NBA season. I can’t promise to have this NBA DFS article out every day. However, I will have it posted when I can and far more often when NFL season ends.

This new NBA DFS article is centered around my core value plays for the slate. I’m going to have each of these guys in half of my lineups tonight. Obviously, injuries and late scratches can change our view point on these players. I will give us two DraftKings and two FanDuel value plays.

DraftKings:

Nemanja Bjelica, SAC ($4,600) – I like Bjelica tonight, he is likely going to find my cash lineup tonight, as he produced strong results against the Jazz in his first game as a King. Bjelica scored 18 points and 8 rebounds against the Jazz and the Pelicans are going to push the pace. Bjelica has worked out well for me multiple times when he was in Minnesota. I am not worried about Bjelica returning value when the Kings are running him over 25 minutes a game. This price is too cheap, Bjelica is playable in cash games and tournaments.

Derrick Rose, MIN ($3,900) – On DraftKings we are somewhat starved for value tonight, there is not a lot in the lower tier. A guy I’m going to play a lot of right now is Derrick Rose at just $3,900. Look, Rose is not going to get us 40 fantasy points, however he is going get minutes. In the Timberwolves first game this season, Rose saw 31 minutes and took 12 shots. In a game against the Cavaliers tonight, I expect Rose to see between 25-28 minutes and score between 18-20 fantasy points. Rose is a good play tonight on DraftKings on a slate that we need some value.

FanDuel:

Yogi Ferrell, SAC ($3,900) – Here is my punt on FanDuel tonight, he’s just at such an easy price point to play, which will allow me to get up to the studs on this slate. On FanDuel they drop your lowest score so even if Ferrell doesn’t produce then he’s won’t destroy your lineups. However, in a tough matchup agains the Jazz, Ferrell got 30 minutes and produced 13 fantasy points. I expect Frank Mason to play a little more tonight, but I think in this matchup with the amount of the pace that we expect, I think we can count on 25 minutes and 15 fantasy points at least for Yogi Farrell. I love this play on FanDuel tonight.

Kevin Knox, NYK ($4,700) – Knox another one of my favorite plays on the Knicks tonight. Used a bunch of Knox in the preseason and summer league, Knox is going to get it going. This Knicks game is likely going to be faster paced and Knox played 23 minutes in the first outing. I expect Knox to see 25-plus minutes in this matchup and I expect him to score 25 fantasy points tonight.

NBA DFS Roster Construction:

DraftKings:  Best play on the slate is Anthony Davis, however, I don’t know if my roster construction is going to lead me there because of the amount of mis-pricing that DraftKings has tonight. Kyrie Irving at $6,600/ Kevin Love $8,000/ Jimmy Butler $8,100/ Donovan Mitchell ($7,800)/ Elfrid Payton ($5,800) is likely where I’m going to be starting most of my lineups tonight.

FanDuel: Same story here as DraftKings except people aren’t mis-priced . Anthony Davis is the best player on the slate but he’s $13,300 tonight. He is going to destroy the Kings, but I can’t envision playing him when he needs over 65 points to even hit value. If this game blows out, or Anthony Davis for whatever reason isn’t hitting shots, his salary is going to hurt. I like the balance approach a lot tonight. Trae Young ($6,100)/ De’Aaron Fox ($6,500)/ Kevin Love ($8,000)/ Dennis Schroder ($7,000) all are going to find my roster tonight.
