FanDuel NBA Cash Tier Breakdown: Saturday October 20th
Welcome back to the FanDuel NBA Cash Tiers Breakdown. I’ve had some great plays that hopefully helped you win but I also have noticed myself forcing plays into my cheap tier when they just aren’t there and suggesting more GPP plays because we don’t all the news right now early in the day.
I’m going to try something new for FanDuel NBA that hopefully you guys like better and will be more helpful. Remember to follow me on twitter @dfs_Joey. I will be updating plays as news comes out because a lot can change between now and lock; these are more of my first look plays.
FanDuel NBA: Point Guard
Top Tier
Kyrie Irving 7.8k: He’s very cheap; usually a guy under 8k would not make my top tier list but for cash this is as high as I want to go unless you are grabbing 2 studs. With Gordon Hayward out Irving should be getting an increase in usage rate. Hayward was commanding a 20% usage rate so that will be spread around the main guys in Irving and Jason Tatum. GPP Pivot: Chris Paul
Middle Tier
Reggie Jackson 6.1k: I have a feeling this game will be the highest scoring game on the slate or right behind the Den/Pho game. I want to get a bunch of exposure to it. Jackson should have a very easy time in this matchup where the guards on Philly just killed them and those guys have far less talented than Jackson. He is in an easy smash spot as long as this game stays close. If you don’t have him in cash I would look to him in GPPs at least because his ceiling is really high in this game. GPP Pivot: Trey Burke
Cheap Tier
Cameron Payne/ Ryan Arcidicono: With Dunn ruled out again we will want to play one of these guys in cash. Arcidicono definitely out performed Payne last game but a majority of his fantasy points came in the 4th quarter during garbage time. It’s tough to tell right now but I would assume Payne sees most of the minutes and Arcidicono becomes more of a GPP play.
FanDuel NBA: Shooting guard
Top Tier
Devin Booker 8.7k: He’s playing in what I think will be the highest total game on the slate and hes proven to be able to score with ease. They will rely on him to do the majority of the scoring. This game should be able to stay close and I also like the over even in a huge total. GPP Pivot : James Harden
Middle Tier
Gary Harris 6.2k: He is playing in what could be the highest total game on the slate and should be matched up with Devin Booker all game. It looks like the rotation for the Nuggets is easier to predict this year. They haven’t played since Wednesday so they have plenty of rest to be able to run up and down the court in what should be a high pace game. GPP Pivot: Zach Lavine
Cheap Tier
Rodney McGruder 3.5k: Ellington and Winslow have already been ruled out and we know Waiters is done for a while. I don’t know why fanduel decided to keep him the same price, but hey I’ll that the salary relief for a free 10x upside. He is a lock in cash games; if I can get a 3.5k guy playing 30+ and with the production he’s shown in those minutes then he might need to be in your GPP lineups too. GPP Pivot: Josh Hart (Hes ok for cash too)
FanDuel NBA: Small Forward
Top Tier
Lebron James 11.7k: Now that Kawhi Leonard is out the only guy to pay up for at SF is Lebron. I’m not a huge fan of this play I think Lebron’s price will slowly decrease to around 10k because he won’t need to do everything for this offense with Rondo there but he still has the potential to pay it off. He usually shows up for big games and against one of the top teams in the league he will have to step up his play to help the Lakers stay in this game.
Middle Tier
Andrew Wiggins 6.8k: With Butler now out I want to fire up Wiggins. He’s shown he can get the peripherals which he struggled with last year. With Butler out last year he has got a huge tick in fantasy points and I expect not much to change here this year as Wiggins has improved as a player with another year in the year. GPP Pivot: Trevor Ariza
Cheap Tier
OG Anunoby 3.7k: With Kawhi Leonard out OG should slide right back into his role last year and see a big uptick in minutes. He’s never been a huge scorer but with Leonard out he will need to play big minutes tonight.
Jared Dudley 3.8k: He has started at PF each game so far this season and has been productive even in not so great matchups. As long as he’s starting again he will get you the 5x he needs to pay off that price.
FanDuel NBA: Power Forward
Top Tier
LaMarcus Alridge 9.1k: REVENGE NARRATIVE ALERT!!!!! He will be going up against his old team tonight and he averaged 26.7 points and 10 rebounds a game with a 30%+ usage rate. He loves going up against his old team and should be able to pay off that big price tag with another huge game. GPP Pivot: Blake Griffen
Middle Tier
Jason Tatum 6.6k: With Gordon Hayward out I had to include Tatum as well. These these 2 guys might just be the duo I use in cash games they both should kill. They might end up playing Tatum at the 3 a lot as well this game which makes him an even better play. As long as Tatum stays away from Kanter who is the only defensive threat on the team he should have no problem getting 30+ fantasy points and maybe even has a 30 real point upside. They don’t have anyone that can matchup against him and as long as this game stays close he should kill.
Bobby Portis 5.9k: Portis murdered last game. They play him at the 4 to avoid those tough matchups and allow Wendell Carter to battle it out inside. He’s going to end up being chalky again but I love a bunch of these Bulls just because their prices will stay down. They play no defense and if their offense can keep it going tonight they’ll likely break the slate again.
Cheap Tier
Jarell Martin 3.7k: I’m not really looking at this tier for cash games right now, but with Mo Bamba out he should get a great bump. If you are looking at small single entry GPPs I would look here to differentiate yourself. Bamba’s minutes should be spread around him and Khem Birch.
FanDuel NBA: Center
Top Tier
Andre Drummond 10.4k: If you are paying up at center you should play him, he will be your safest bet of the slate. He has the easiest matchup of all the centers. I thought that Chicago would have improved but their defense in most spots is still really bad and I will try to exploit that all season which will be the trend with a lot of young teams that haven’t focused on defense yet. Chicago just allowed a 30/10 game to Joel Embiid with huge block upside all factors that Drummond is amazing at and could destroy in this matchup. GPP Pivot: Nikola Jokic
Middle Tier
Enes Kanter 7.6k: I feel like I write about him every night because not only is he an amazing center in this league he’s had amazing matchup each night. He faces Boston who just gave up a big game to Serge Ibaka who hasn’t done much in a while. Kanter finds himself in another what could be smash spot which will probably put him over 8k moving forward making him tough to play so get him while he’s still hot. GPP Pivot: Deandre Jordan
Cheap Tier
There is some injury concerns to monitor so I’m going to suggest a couple spots where cheap plays may open up. These guys are only in play for cash if their start is out.
Tyson Chandler 3.5k: If Deandre Ayton is out then we can fire up Chandler. If you payed last year we always had the issue with the Suns choosing between Chandler and Alex Len with one of them being out most games and us firing up the other for a solid cash game of 5-6x and sometimes breaking the slate. Ayton is expected to play but we know the NBA because he’s still questionable there’s a chance so I wanted at least mention Chandler.
Ian Mahimi 3.5k: If Dwight Howard is out again Ian should be a good play again. He let me down with 4 fouls and 12 minutes but if he can stay out of foul trouble this game he should see a big role. Tough to predict right now if Howard will be out but he will have a decent matchup if he plays.
