College football AP Top 25: Week 9 winners and losers
The college football season is headed into Week 9 and the AP Top 25 has been released. Which teams come away as the biggest winners and losers?
We are officially into the second half of the 2018 season and the Week 9 AP Top 25 has been released, revealing some big winners and losers from the week that was.
Everything started out normal with no real shocking upsets. Michigan took care of rival Michigan State in a defensive battle to take the Paul Bunyan Trophy back to East Lansing, Clemson smoked NC State at home in convincing fashion and TCU got smacked around by No. 9 Oklahoma, proving the Sooners are still the class of the Big 12.
As the day progressed, the games got more intriguing and it ended with upset wins by No. 25 Washington State over No. 12 Oregon and Purdue dismantling No. 2 Ohio State. Gardner Minshew was the hero for the Cougars against the Ducks and Purdue’s entire offense lit up Ohio State’s defense for 49 points in a 29-point win.
Throughout the day, there were some near-upsets as Penn State narrowly escaped Indiana on the road, Washington put Colorado away with a late touchdown and Kentucky’s Benny Snell Jr. scored a fourth-quarter touchdown to give Kentucky a win over Vanderbilt.
There were some teams that dropped from the rankings this week such as Michigan State, Cincinnati and Mississippi State, but did they make the list of the biggest losers?
