The college football rankings saw the No. 2 team in the AP Top 25 lose again How far will Ohio State drop and what will the rest of the Top 25 look like?

Following up one of the craziest weeks of the college football season isn’t easy, and Week 9 didn’t have many surprises until we got into primetime when Purdue pulled off a stunner, beating Ohio State 49-20 in a game that the Buckeyes never led. This will cause a big shake-up below Alabama who will remain in the top spot after their big win over Tennessee.

The day began with a rivalry between Michigan and Michigan State, two teams that just don’t like each other. It was evident from the pre-game warmups to the final whistle, but the Wolverines’ defense was just too much for the ailing Spartan offense to handle, winning their first road game over a ranked team since 2006.

Clemson had another ranked battle early in the day and the Tigers didn’t skip a beat, slamming the Wolfpack, 41-7. Trevor Lawrence had his first career 300-yard game and Clemson looks like the overwhelming favorite to win the ACC.

No one was surprised with Alabama smacking Tennessee or Oklahoma handling TCU or Wisconsin bouncing back from a Michigan loss to dismantle Illinois. However, this could be the calm before the storm. Usually when there’s a week with few surprises, it’s followed up by madness and destruction to the rankings — Ohio State’s loss to Purdue and Oregon’s defeat at Washington State account for the shocks of the week.

There will still be some movement in the Week 9 AP Top 25 and here’s what the poll will look like after Week 8 action.
