The Purdue Boilermakers led the biggest college football upset on Saturday. Their star trio along with several others earned helmet stickers in Week 8.
If there was a week for the Big Ten to own the spotlight in college football, it was Week 8. On Saturday, a plethora of games in the conference had narratives shift and one huge upset has changed the landscape of the College Football Playoff.
Michigan put down Michigan State in a game that had plenty of fireworks before the game, while Nebraska finally got on the board with their first victory of the season.
The biggest story of the night in the conference belonged to the Purdue Boilermakers. They handed the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes their first loss of the season in an absolute beatdown that no one saw coming. Of course, several players across the country had big performances. Here are the players that earned helmet stickers in Week 8.
10. Kennedy Brooks, RB: Oklahoma
- 18 car, 168 yds, 1 TD
Brooks could not be caught on the ground against TCU. The freshman had a touchdown and several huge runs in a big conference win.
9. D’Eriq King, QB: Houston
- 25/38 att, 413 yds, 3 TD
The Cougars continue to roll as they defeated Navy on Saturday. King had another huge game passing with over 400 yards and three touchdowns to his total.
8. Drew Lock, QB: Missouri
- 23/29 att, 350 yds, 4 TD
This will be a game that scouts look to when breaking down Drew Lock as an NFL quarterback. He was accurate and the Tigers blew out Memphis on Saturday, behind the quarterback’s 350 yards.
7. Adrian Martinez, QB: Nebraska
- 25/29 att, 276 yds, 3 TD
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have finally picked up their first victory under Scott Frost. His quarterback was dialed in and Martinez finished the day with 3 touchdowns in the victory.

6. Karan Higdon, RB: Michigan
- 33 car, 144 yds
It wasn’t a game that had a lot of points, but it was a fight for yards. The Wolverines flexed their muscles and let running back Karan Higdon carry them with 144 yards on the ground.
5. Kyler Murray, QB: Oklahoma
- 19/24 att, 213 yds, 4 TD
- 9 car, 51 yds
The Sooners quite the offensive output against TCU on the road. Kyler Murray continued to add to his impressive totals on the season with four touchdown passes.
4. Gardner Minshew, QB: Washington State
- 39/51 att, 323 yds, 4 TD, 2 INT
The power of the mustache was strong at home on Saturday. With Washington State under the national spotlight, Minshew threw four huge touchdowns to defeat red-hot Oregon.

3. Trevor Lawrence, QB: Clemson
- 26/39 att, 308 yds, 1 TD
The Clemson Tigers had a difficult test ahead of them hosting N.C. State. Their starting quarterback didn’t seem to break a sweat with a career-high effort with more than 300 yards passing and a touchdown in a big ACC victory.
2. Tua Tagovailoa, QB: Alabama
- 19/29 att, 306 yds, 4 TD
Tagovailoa once again had the game put away by the end of the first half, or maybe even the first quarter. The Alabama Crimson Tide are a machine on offense that can’t be stopped and Tennessee was their star quarterback’s latest victim. Jaylen Waddle was one of four receivers to catch a touchdown for the Tide on Saturday and had 117 yards.
This is Tua Tagovailoa's 24th touchdown pass of the season. He still hasn't thrown an interception.

1. The Purdue Trio
- David Blough – 25/43 att, 378 yds, 3 TD
- D.J. Knox – 16 car, 128 yds, 3 TD
- Rondale Moore – 12 rec, 170 yds, 2 TD
The Boilermakers made a statement knocking off the Buckeyes on Saturday night. They thoroughly embarrassed the No. 2 team in the nation and it was behind their star trio on offense. Blough had a huge day passing the ball and Moore was once again the big recipient. The freshman wide receiver has established himself as college football’s next big thing. Knox had a big day carrying the ball on the ground as well.
