High Value PG
Players costing $6,250 or under
Trae Young (at CLE – $6,100):Needs 28.6 fantasy points. Young is currently listed as probable, so I’m going to assume he’ll play. After a rough start, Young had 40.5 fantasy points against Memphis. The Cavaliers defense is still in rough shape, and while the Hawks are in rough shape period, we saw a glimpse of the scoring and passing Young can provide as the Hawks point guard. Diagnosis: Good matchup with high upside. The elbow injury is a concern because it might hinder his shot.
Jordan Clarkson (vs ATL – $5,000):Needs 22.6 fantasy points. Jordan Clarkson is not the best point guard in Cleveland, but he thinks he’s the best point guard in Cleveland. And because of that, he’s a solid fantasy option. He’s going to take his shots and if he gives you anything else, that’s just a bonus. On top of that, the Cavaliers are facing the Hawks. Atlanta might be the worst team in the league and the Cavaliers have at least looked competitive against two tough opponents. Diagnosis: High risk because he’s Jordan Clarkson. But high reward because they are playing the Hawks.
Lou Williams (vs HOU – $5,300):Needs 23.9 fantasy points. It’s been a rough start for Williams, who has been under 25 fantasy points in both games. He had two 50-plus fantasy point games against the Rockets last season. His other two performances were less than memorable. The Rockets are on a back-to-back and their defense has looked terrible. Diagnosis: Has performed up to par thus far, but we know what he’s capable of. As of now, he’s high-risk, high-reward.
