FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – October 22, 2018
High Value PG
Players costing $6,667 or under
J.J. Barea (vs CHI – $4,900): Needs 20.9 fantasy points. Barea has not let me down this season. He’s had some great matchup against the Timberwolves and Suns and the Bulls are a great matchup as well. He gets guaranteed minutes every night, runs the second unit for the first part and runs it at a high level. He’s become an excellent playmaker this season and he’ll come up with points and steal. Diagnosis: Barea is as reliable as they come and his salary remains low enough for him to have a big impact.
Fred VanVleet (vs CHA – $4,900): Needs 20.9 fantasy points. VanVleet has been consistent this season, coming in around 25 fantasy points in all three games. He’s picked up where he left off last season as the top option off the Raptors bench. He should have no trouble slicing up the weak Hornets bench, which includes an old Tony Parker at point guard. Diagnosis: Consistent option who gets plenty of opportunities as the bench leader in Toronto.
Derrick Rose (vs IND – $4,600): Needs 19.7 fantasy points. Rose had 47.5 fantasy points against the Mavericks on Oct. 20. Is he back to MVP form? Probably not, but as I said prior to his last game, he’s going to get big minutes and he’s going to be allowed to do what he wants coming off the bench for Minnesota. The Pacers defense is still very suspect and if Rose actually has juice in his legs, he can make an impact once again. Diagnosis: It’s always a risk playing Derrick Rose because of how he’s looked the last few season, but he’s playing well thus far and he gets his chances in Minnesota.
