NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Monday October 22th, 2018
We are back with another NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes for you daily fantasy players. We at FantasyCPR will have you covered with some snipes for you to start your week off right!
Each post will provide a quick recap of players discussed in previous articles. Success is the clear goal, but it is important to understand our misses as well. See if we can find those trends that work, and areas we can improve.
Below is a recap of Thursday’s DraftKings Snipes action that we last talked about from Saturday.
Oct. 20
Aleksander Barkov – 2 assists and 2 shots on goal. 23:37 time on ice.
Logan Couture – 1 goal and 1 assist. 3 shots on goal.
Timo Meier – 1 goal on 2 shots. 15:08 time on ice.
Tomas Hertl – 3 assists.
Artemi Panarin – 3 shots on goal.
Evgeni Dadonov – 1 assist and 1 blocked shot.
Zach Werenski – 1 goal on 4 shots. 1 blocked shot. 24:59 time on ice.
Maxime Lajoie – 3 shots on goal. 23:00 time on ice.
Andrei Vasilevskiy – 5 goals against in OT loss. 29 saves
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Centers
Nathan MacKinnon Avalanche ($8,100)
Mac is deserving of the highest priced center on tonight’s slate. I’m not letting that stop me from using him in my lineup. Some may flock to the Capitals duo of Kuznetsov and Ovechkin, which is a pretty formidable duo. But the price to stack them is $700 more than the stack I am leaning towards. A pairing that has outplayed the Ovi and Kuz match up.
MacKinnon is in another world right now with 14 points in eight games. He is tied for second in goals with eight. All eight of those goals have come at even strength. Mac is boasting a career best 21:46 time on ice average per game and plays on the first power play unit. He has really clicked with his right-winger that we’ll discuss in the next section.
Sebastian Aho Hurricanes ($6,900)
Aho has not seen a dip in production since his move from wing to center this season. He leads the team in points with 13 and is a +9 on the ice. What stands out the most to me is this lines ability to control the puck. Aho has a CF% of 59.4 and a FF% of 60.8. The sheer amount of time they possess the puck increases their chances of putting the puck in the net, and they have really taken advantage of those opportunities.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Wingers
Mikko Rantanen Avalanche ($6,400)
Rantanen may not have the goals to back it up, but he is playing a huge role in the Avs early success. He has two goals and 12 assists. He sits alone at the top of the leaderboard in assists and is in a three-way tie for league lead in points. He is also a part of the first power play unit, but like MacKinnon, has done most of his damage at even strength. Rantanen will be seeking his ninth straight game with a point. Let’s see if the Gritty and the Flyers can handle this top line.
Micheal Ferland Hurricanes ($6,200)
The former 5th round pick is off to a great start in 2018. It has only been eight games for the Canes, but Ferland is scoring in bunches. He scored goals in back-to-back games on the 5th and 7th, and is currently on a three-game goal streak. The last three have come against formidable opponents in Winnipeg, Tampa Bay, and at home versus Colorado. The top line for Carolina is producing at a high clip, and I don’t expect that production to be slowed down by the Red Wings tonight.
Teuvo Teravainen Hurricanes ($5,600)
Playing a similar role to Rantanen, Teravainen is the teams best distributor. If you don’t want to spend up on the Avs or Caps tonight, this top Hurricanes line would be a solid shift. Teravainen has a goal and seven assists. He gets a chance to match up against a team that ranks 26th in the NHL against right wingers and really struggling as a whole at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Defense and Goalies
Tyson Barrie Avalanche ($5,000)
No goals yet for Barrie but if past seasons are any indication, he should start hitting the twine soon. In four out of the last five seasons, Barrie has had 10+ goals and had a career best 14 goals and 57 points for the Avs last season. He is a top four defender, playing on the second line. However, Barrie has been given first line power play duties, joining MacKinnon, Rantanen, Gabriel Landeskog, and Tyson Jost.

Dustin Byfuglien Jets ($5,300)
Big Buff is healthy and ready to start collecting points. On the 18th, he had a goal and two assists. Both assists came on the power play. That nine-point fantasy night was by far his best of this young season. The Jets have been one of the hotter teams in the NHL so far, and his success could send this team to an even higher level. He has a big shot from the point and brings a physical aspect to the game that not many can contend with. Let’s see if he can take advantage of a match up against a Blues team that only has six points on the season.
Connor Hellebuyck Jets ($8,400)/Laurent Brossoit Jets ($8,200)
It is unconfirmed who will start in net for the Jets tonight but projections are suggesting Hellebuyck. However, in tonight’s four-game slate, I like both options for the Jets against the Blues. We will have to keep a close eye on who they decide to start, and I will update you via Twitter as soon as the info becomes available. This match up looks to be the most lopsided from a betting sense as the Jets are -160 favorites tonight. Hellebuyck boasts a 2.66 GAA and a 3-2-1 record. Let’s not forget the season he put up last year though with a record of 44-11-9. Tonight could be the night he gets back on track.
