The Arizona State Sun Devils played host to the Stanford Cardinal on Thursday, in a game that kicked off the weekend in the Pac-12. The Sun Devils kept this one close, and then made a run late to cut the lead to seven, but ended up losing to the Cardinals, as they lost their second straight game.

Stanford came into this game with a hobbled Bryce Love, who is having a pretty disappointing season considering he was a Heisman Trophy candidate coming into 2018. The Sun Devils were able to keep the Cardinal out of the end zone for most of the game, but Stanford controlled the ball and was able to come away with a huge victory on the road to keep them in contention in the Pac-12 North.

Manny Wilkins threw for 353 yards against Stanford but was only able to find the end zone with his feet. Star running back Eno Benjamin was held in check by the Cardinal defense, rushing only 11 times for 38 yards, as Stanford had a nice game plan for Herm Edwards and company. Arizona State heads to USC to take on the Trojans this weekend.

The Colorado Buffaloes were once a 5-0 team, and working their way up the top-25 polls. However, after two straight losses, they have completely fallen out of the ranks and missed a huge opportunity to get back into the Top 25 with a rough loss to the Washington Huskies this past weekend.

Colorado kept this game close the whole way, trailing by only one at the half, and by only a score late in the fourth quarter. However, the Huskies drove the dagger into Colorado’s hearts with a fourth-down touchdown pass by Jake Browning, as the Buffaloes lost their second game in as many weeks.

Quarterback Steven Montez threw for 144 yards and a score, but the offense played inconsistent football throughout. His lone touchdown pass went to Daniel Arias, which just happened to be Arias’ first college catch, but outside of that, there was not much to write home about when it comes to the Colorado offense in this one. Colorado should get back in the win column this weekend, as they head home to take on Oregon State.
