Players costing $6,250 or under
Robert Covington (at DET – $5,500): Needs 25.3 fantasy points. Covington underperformed a bit against the Magic, coming in with just 25 fantasy points despite a good matchup and 39 minutes. The Pistons are another good matchup and one he performed very well against last season, averaging 33 fantasy points in four games. He does a bit of everything but needs more in the scoring department to justify taking him. Diagnosis: Inconsistent option who should be able to step up in the absence of Simmons.
Trey Lyles (vs SAC – $4,800): Needs 22.1 fantasy points. Lyles has been up-and-down to start the season. The Nuggets really need his scoring off the bench, especially with Barton missing time and Murray possibly missing Tuesday’s contest. He can score in bunches, we just haven’t seen it this season. Diagnosis: Needs to prove something, but the matchup and circumstances are great.
Reggie Bullock (vs PHI – $4,500): Needs 20.4 fantasy points. Bullock got off to a nice start to the season with 22.25 fantasy points on Oct. 20 against the Bulls. The caveat being, they were playing the Bulls. The good news is that Bullock plays big minutes and gets his looks in the season. He’s also playing with a lot of confidence after the way he ended last season. Diagnosis: Low cost and solid option. But don’t expect much more than value.
