FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – October 23, 2018

High Salary C
Players costing over $6,667
Joel Embiid (at DET – $10,700): Needs 45.6 fantasy points. If Drummond doesn’t end up playing, Embiid should get busy. He struggled against the Pistons last year, averaging 36.5 fantasy points in three games. But no Drummond will make his life easier in the paint and on the glass. And if Simmons doesn’t play, he’ll be tasked with carrying more of the offense. Diagnosis: A slight risk, especially at this salary. But could turn into a big game if the circumstances work out for him.
Julius Randle (vs LAC – $7,800): Needs 33.2 fantasy points. Randle has played exactly 24 minutes in both games thus far. He looked great against the Rockets, but not quite as good against the Kings. Then again, everyone dominated the Kings so Randle didn’t have to do as much. He’ll be utilized more against the Clippers, which projects to be a tough game. Look for him to bounce back and have a performance similar to what we saw against the Rockets. Diagnosis: A good bet to produce given the way the Pelicans are looking right now. Spend the extra money on Randle over Cauley-Stein if you can.
Willie Cauley-Stein (at DEN – $7,400): Needs 31.5 fantasy points. Cauley-Stein hasn’t been able to build off a big opening night, dropping in production in the two games since. He played well at the end of the season against Denver but wasn’t a factor in the two early games. He can put up rebounds and points, but the Nuggets defense has been surprisingly good, so points might be tough to come back. Diagnosis: A decent option who can go over 40 fantasy points, but is more likely to come in around value.
