NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Tuesday October 23rd, 2018
We are back with another NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes for you daily fantasy players. We at FantasyCPR will have you covered with some snipes for tonight’s eight-game slate.
Each post will provide a quick recap of players discussed in previous articles. Success is the clear goal, but it is important to understand our misses as well. See if we can find those trends that work, and areas we can improve.
Although the slate was small, there was no shortage of action tonight. We saw all of the favorable match ups pull through with wins. Some closer than others! You know what I’m talking about Jets fans. But here are a few important notes from tonight.
Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon are melting the ice with how hot they have been to start the season. Each are cruising with nine-game point streaks. Another streak to take note of is Micheal Ferland‘s goal streak. Ferland has a goal in four straight games. In Winnipeg, I’m not sure if it was because they were on so many power plays, but Scheifele, Wheeler, Byfuglien and Morrissey are spending so much time on the ice, that it is impossible to keep them off the board. Washington took care of business on the road against the Canucks. Alex Ovechkin recorded two goals and two assists. Evgeny Kuznetsov had a goal, and T.J. Oshie had a goal and an assist.
Below is a recap of Sunday’s DraftKings Snipes action that we talked about.
Oct. 22
Nathan MacKinnon – 1 assist. 2:30 time on power play. Point streak extended to 9
Sebastian Aho – 1 assist and 1 shot on goal. 2 blocked shots.
Mikko Rantanen – 2 goals on 3 shots. 3 blocked shots. 2:22 time on power play. Point streak extended to 9.
Micheal Ferland – 1 goal on 5 shots. Has a goal in 4 straight games.
Teuvo Teravainen – 1 shot on goal and 1 blocked shot.
Tyson Barrie – 3 shots on goal. 1 blocked shot. 2:22 time on power play.
Dustin Byfuglien – 1 assist and 1 shot on goal. 3:40 time on power play.
Connor Hellebuyck – Picked up overtime win. 30 saves and 4 goals against.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Centers
Sidney Crosby Penguins ($6,700)
Let’s jump at the opportunity at Crosby when he isn’t full price! The goals have not been there yet this season as he has just five assists through six games. But The Kid is too good to be held off the score sheet much longer. It is hard to argue with five straight 80+ point seasons. His goals dipped last season, but there is no reason to believe he is slowing down. Tonight’s match up against Connor McDavid gives him the opportunity to prove that he is still top dog at center. We’ll see who comes out on top.
Mika Zibanejad Rangers ($)
The Panthers are favored to win tonight, however they are starting Michael Hutchinson in net. He is a goalie I am looking to pick on tonight as he has given up 10 goals in three games. nine out of ten of those goals came in two games against the Red Wings and Flyers. He centers the top line for the Rangers and has three goals and two assists so far. A Ranger stack could be a sneaky GPP play tonight.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Wingers
Clayton Keller Coyotes ($5,500)
Let’s kick off the wingers with a bit of a bargain. Keller should get low ownership tonight based on their match up on the road in Columbus. However, the Blue Jackets rank 30th against opposing right wingers, and Keller is starting to get hot. He has back-to-back two point games and is up to three goals and two assists through seven games. He had a successful first full season last year, appearing in all 82 games netting 23 goals, and passing out 42 helpers.
Rickard Rakell Ducks ($6,000)
The Blackhawks put up an ugly performance last time out as the Lightning took advantage of a defensively challenged team. They gave up six goals on 54 shots. If Crawford is in net tonight, this pick won’t be as sexy. However, the defense in Chicago is so far off that it feels like any night can turn into a nightmare. Rakell put up career numbers last year with 34 goals and 35 assists.
Chris Kreider Rangers ($5,700)
Kreider has four goals and two assists on the season. What sticks out most is the 15 shots in the last three games. He is getting his opportunities to score, and that should be no different tonight. Hutchinson is giving up nearly four goals a game. The Panthers don’t match up well against opposing left wingers either ranking 30th.
Jesper Fast Rangers ($3,900)
The last piece of the Rangers top line is also the cheapest. It is in no way, shape, or form a sure thing here with Fast but the risk may be worth the reward. However, we will need to look for the even strength goal as he doesn’t get much run on the power play.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Defense and Goalies
Hampus Lindholm Ducks ($5,400)
Lindholm is tied for the team lead in points with seven on two goals and five assists. This is helped by his team leading 24:29 average time on ice. As we discussed earlier, the Hawks are not doing much to protect their goalie yet this season ranking 30th against opposing defenders. The Ducks could be in for a big scoring night as long as Crawford doesn’t stand on his head all 60 minutes.
David Rittich Flames ($7,500)
At $900 cheaper than the top goalie tonight, Rittich seems like a great buy. He is 2-0 with a 1.30 GAA and 6.1 FPPG. His last effort was a 44 save win against the Rangers. All three of his match ups have come on the road, so we know he can handle the pressure of an opposing crowd. Rittich even went into Colorado and led the Flames to a 3-2 victory.
Sergei Bobrovsky Blue Jackets ($8,400)
Bobrovsky comes in as the heaviest favorite to win at home tonight against the Coyotes. He is not my favorite goalie of the night though as he is averaging just 2.8 FPPG. We are seeing a Coyotes team that has Clayton Keller on a roll, and should be getting Alex Galchenyuk back tonight. Bobrovsky has not been his Vezina-self with a .876 SV% and 3.84 GAA. I’m not sure it is worth spending up this much on a struggling goaltender.
