Is Empire new tonight, Oct. 24? Fans of FOX‘s music industry drama may be wondering what is going on with their show — and we don’t just mean which character is in that coffin that every commercial has been teasing viewers with!
With FOX once again being the home of postseason baseball, the network is shifting around its prime time schedule this October. That includes Empire season 5, which is not new this week. It’s not actually on Wednesday, either, because TV fans will be seeing the Boston Red Sox hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 2 of the MLB World Series.
That’s an entirely different competition, and it means that Lucious Lyon, Cookie Lyon and their family will have to put their revenge plans on hold. But for how long? Well, that’s where viewers get a bit of appropriate intrigue.
If the World Series is concluded in six games or less, Empire will be back next week in its regular time slot. But if the Red Sox and Dodgers need the full seven games, then the show won’t return for two weeks, on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
While it’s impossible to predict a return date yet, FOX has already released a few details about the next new episode, which is called “The Depth of Grief.” In that episode, Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) are prepping Mario for his big premiere, but wonder if he’s going to crack under pressure.
And on this show, there’s always pressure. Not to mention rivalry, passion and a desire to be the absolute best. Those are the same things that are at play in championship baseball, so sit back and enjoy the Fall Classic while Empire takes a break this week.
