The New York Jets have been one of the more confusing teams in the NFL this season, as they look good one week, and then take a step back the next. Sure, they are rolling with a rookie quarterback this season, but it has been the veteran players who have not stepped up, and it has led to big losses in games they should have been competitive in.

Head coach Todd Bowles has to be on the hot seat, and the organization is not likely to take another double-digit loss season. If the season ended tomorrow, the Jets would be picking in the top-15 next April, and if they were smart, they would give their star, rookie quarterback a weapon to throw to.

Sam Darnold has not been the problem for the Jets in year one, and while he has made his mistakes, he has franchise quarterback written all over him. If the Jets decide to use their first round pick in 2019 to bring in a wide receiver, they should go with AJ Brown from Ole Miss, who should be one of the first wideouts off the board.

Brown is a guy who can really stretch the field, and Darnold certainly has the arm strength to get the ball into any window needed. The Jets are just not good at the wide receiver group, and before it stunts the growth of their prized quarterback, they should use a high first round pick on a guy he can throw the ball to for the next five years minimum.
