NHL DFS Man Advantage Wednesday October 24
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Wednesday October 24! Tonight is small 4 game slate, but it is an interesting one. We have two games featuring 4 of the best teams in the league when Toronto travel cross-country to take on Winnipeg and Colorado heads down to sunny Florida to battle Tampa. We have the Panthers on the second of a back to back against the Islanders and the last game of the night is Vancouver heading to Sin City to meet the Golden Knights
We have three of the best and most prolific lines in hockey today on the NHL DFS slate tonight and it will be difficult to get exposure to all the lines because of pricing. I will try to help you which is the best lines to use and where to find value to make sure you can get the exposure you want to the players you want.
NHL DFS Goalies
On a night like this there is going to be one goalie who is going to be extremely chalky, and that is Marc-Andre Fleury ($8.4K). After a rough start to the year Fleury has won 3 straight starts allowing only 2 goals over the 3 games and gets a Vancouver team that has scored only 5 goals over their last 3 and lost 2 of 3.
Semyon Varlamov ($8.1K) leads the league in SV% with a .953 and a 1.64 GAA, and tonight he gets the Lightning who have scored 18 goals in their last 4. Varlamov will have a tough time reaching value it seems against this suddenly high-powered offense.
In the remaining games there isn’t much to like:
1 – Frederick Andersson (TOR)
2 – Andrei Vasilevskiy (TB)
NHL DFS Game Breakdowns
Toronto @ Winnipeg
Line Stacks :
Toronto: John Tavares has 5 assists over his last 5 games with linemates Mitch Marner who has 4 goals and 8 assists and Zach Hyman who has 5 assitss on the season make up the Leafs top line. Of course the line of Patrick Marleau – Auston Matthews – Kasperi Kapanen make for an admirable selection as well
Winnipeg: For the Jets its been about one line getting it done for them, Kyle Connor – Mark Scheifele – Blake Wheeler are the top 3 point scorers on this team. They log the most minutes on the team and also make up 3/5 of the first pp unit with Patrik Laine (3 g 2 a) and Josh Morrissey (1 g 6 a)
Top Value Plays:
Toronto: All of the value up for the Leafs is listed in the line stack section, but defender Jake Gardiner ( $4.2K) is a value option with 6 assists on the season while averaging over 21 minutes per game.
Winnipeg: For Winnipeg there is some more value available, like Adam Lowry ($4.1K) and Bryan Little ($4.6K) and his 3 goals, 1 assist, and 17 sog and over 16 minutes on ice per game
Defensemen:
Toronto: For the Leafs the best choice on defense is the same as it most nights, Morgan Rielly. Rielly has 4 goals and 10 assists on the season and is second on the Leafs in points
Winnipeg: Similar to the Leafs, the Jets top d man is a top scorer on the team. Josh Morrissey is the best d man for the Jets right now with 1 goal 6 assists while playing over 23 minutes a night
Florida Panthers @ New York Islanders
Line Stacks:
Florida: Going in to this game the Panthers second line has been playing at a high level, especially center Vincent Trochek with 3 goals and 5 assists (scored last night) and Jonathan Huberdeau with 2 goals and 5 assists. Rounding out the Panthers 2nd line is Denis Malgin and his 3 assists
New York: I am not in love with any of the Islanders lines for a complete stack, there are some players on each line in their top 6 I like, but there is no full line stack. For a mini stack I can recommend using Josh Bailey and Anders Lee . If you want to play a 3 man stack you pair them with either Mathew Barzal or Jordan Eberle for a power play stack

Top Value Plays:
Florida: Mike Hoffman is a borderline value at $4.8K but he is the best option for the Panthers as far as value goes. After scoring on Tuesday for the Panthers Hoffman now has 2 goals and 2 assists over his last 5 while averaging over 17 minutes of ice time per game
New York: 4th line center Casey Cizikas ($3.2) has been hot for the Isles to start the year with 3 goals and 2 assists in the last 5 games and averaging 3.6 DKFP per game.
Defensmen:
Florida: Like a wrote up yesterday, Keith Yandle is the best choice for the Panthers when it comes to the point. With 1 goal and 6 assists Yandle is 3rd on the team in scoring
New York: Scott Mayfield is the most productive defensemen for the Islanders with 1 goal and 4 assists on the season.
Colorado Avalanche @ Tampa Bay Lightning
Line Stacks:
Colorado: Stop me if you heard this one… Mikko Rantanen – Nathan MacKinnon – Gabriel Landeskog are the Av’s most fantasy relevant line. I am not going to go through the stats, but instead just tell you to get some exposure to this line in your lineups tonight.
Tampa Bay: There are 2 lines that are in play but I am going use the Lightning “Triplets Line” tonight. Ondrej Palat – Tyler Johnson – Nikita Kucherov were placed back together a little over a week ago and they picked up where they left off last season. On the season the line has combined for 17 points on the year and 5 goals. Kucherov plays on the first PP unit and Palat and Johnson are on the 2nd pp unit.
Top Value Plays:
Colorado: If you are going to use Colorado I cannot really recommend any of the value guys. You can use someone like Carl Soderberg or Alex Kerfoot but nobody has really been producing in the last 5 games.
Tampa Bay: J.T. Miller ($4.2K)is second on the team in scoring with 2 goals and 6 assists with 10 shots on goal. Miller plays on the 4th line now, but is on the first power play unit.
Defensemen:
Colorado: Both Tyson Barrie and Erik Johnson are in play for Colorado on D and only separated by $300, so either way would be the way to go especially if you are putting them with a mini stack of the first line. If you are doing that than Barrie is the play because he play on the first PP unit with them.
Tampa Bay: Victor Hedman is the top point man for the Lightning with 2 goals and 2 assists on the season and he plays on the first PP unit with Stamkos, Miller, Kucherov, and Killorn.
Vancouver Canucks @ Vegas Golden Knights
Line Stacks:
Vancouver: Vancouver is similar to the Islanders where there is no full line stack. There are a few options to use up front together, but no full stack. Bo Horvat and Loui Eriksson would be the best mini stack option. You could also use Sven Baertschi in place of Eriksson and get exposure to the first two forward lines and the top PP unit as well.
Vegas: For Vegas, it’s all about their first line of Jonathan Marchessault – William Karlsson – Reilly Smith. They are the top 3 on the Golden Knights in scoring and play on the first PP unit with Max Pacioretty and Brad Hunt.
Top Value Plays:
Vancouver: Jake Virtanen ($3.4K) is the top value play for the Canucks with 2 goals and 2 assists on the season. Virtanen plays on the 2nd line and 2nd PP unit
Vegas: Third line center Cody Eakin ($3.7K) is the top value play for Vegas with 3 goals and an assist. Besides centering the 3rd line Eakin also sees time on the 2nd PP unit.
Defensemen:
Vancouver: Alex Edler is really the only option on defense for the Canucks. On the season Edler has 5 assists and is the power play quarterback.
Vegas: I am not playing any of the defensmen from Vegas. They have not gotten any offense this season from the point. If you are inclined to do so, you can use Brad Hunt since he plays on the first PP unit.
