Breaking down the best college basketball teams entering the 2018-19 season with our preseason rankings of the top 25 in the country.

The 2018-19 college basketball season is all but upon us. A new campaign will tip off on Tuesday, Nov. 6 with a full slate of action. We’ve already seen the Preseason AP Top 25 poll released at this point, so we know that there will be two top-10 matchups taking place as the Michigan State Spartans take on the Kansas Jayhawks and the Duke Blue Devils square off with the Kentucky Wildcats in the State Farm Champions Classic.

While those are top-10 matchups according to the AP Top 25, though, it’s important to remember the subjectivity that is inherent with preseason college basketball rankings. Put simply, everything that we’re seeing is based on perception and not totally anything that we’ve seen to this point.

For instance, we know that Duke will have the three top recruits from the 2018 class on their roster this season. On paper, that should make them an absolutely dominant force in college basketball this season. Having said that, it’s the preseason, meaning that we have no way of knowing how these guys will perform at the collegiate level, how they’ll coalesce with one another and so on.

What’s more, perceptions are different to everyone. Different polls and people value things differently than others. As such, not every set of preseason rankings are created equal. Subsequently, it feels appropriate to look at the landscape of the sport and offer yet another take on how things shake out going into the season.

With that in mind, let’s count down from 25-to-1 in the FanSided Preseason College Basketball Rankings for the 2018-19 season.
