3. Texas Longhorns

Rank: 6 | Opponent: Oklahoma State Cowboys | Time: 8 p.m. ET

Many people were ready to jump on the Oklahoma State Cowboys bandwagon after three weeks of the season. Their first two wins of the year against Missouri State and South Alabama weren’t all that impressive. However, as Mike Gundy’s team went out and put a hurting on the then-ranked Boise State Broncos, that was enough to get the masses to start to buy in on Taylor Cornelius and this Cowboys team.

However, that was not the wise decision in all of this. Since that 3-0 start, the Cowboys have gone just 1-3, with their only win coming against the Kansas Jayhawks. Meanwhile, they’ve suffered losses to Texas Tech, Iowa State and Kansas State. Thus, it might not look favorable for this Oklahoma State team at home on Saturday night as they welcome the sixth-ranked Texas Longhorns to town.

In truth, what we’ve seen from this Longhorns team would ultimately lead you to believe that they are in a position to take down Oklahoma State with ease and extend their winning streak to seven games. However, Texas comes into this game with Sam Ehlinger having been injured two weeks ago (the last time they played) and may have questions on offense, either with a less-than-100-percent Ehlinger or with Shane Buechele.

On top of this, the Oklahoma State offense has the potential to be explosive, even if they haven’t sown consistency just yet. Subsequently, this seems like a game where, at home, the Cowboys could put some pressure on a lessened offense and, at the very least, make things interesting.
