Even though it absolutely seems like it, the Giants apparently aren’t tanking

The New York Giants are currently 1-6 but despite their record, the players in the locker room insist there is no quit in their team.

The New York Giants are down, but their locker room is convinced they are not out.

Despite entering the season with playoff aspirations, the Giants so far have compiled a record of 1-6 through seven games, and currently are last in their division. This week, Giants head coach Pat Shurmur traded two key defensive players, Eli Apple and Snacks Harrison in a way to help the team in the short and long term. But, despite what initially looks like a tank job, Giants cornerback B.W. Webb believes the team isn’t throwing in the towel for the season.

"“We’re not throwing in the towel at all, man. I honestly think that’s disrespectful to us players,” said cornerback B.W. Webb, who may be in line for more playing time in Apple’s spot. “We don’t go into any game thinking we’re just gonna throw it away. We fight every week, there are people out there playing for their families, their kids, for each other. It’s disrespectful when we hear that, somebody say we’re tanking or something like that.”"

Because the NFL season is still young, the Giants have ample time to correct their season and right many wrongs. Obviously, they are limited in how many games they have left before they are eliminated from playoff contention. Only five teams have made the playoffs with a 1-4 start, but no team has made after a 1-6 start. Luckily, the Giants possess generational talents in Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley, so anything can happen within the next nine games.

The Giants will have an opportunity to right the ship this Sunday, as they face-off against the Washington Redskins in an NFC East showdown.
