Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs (-9)

The Denver Broncos came so close to taking down the extreme offense of the Kansas City Chiefs, but eventually failed. They used their home-field advantage on a Monday night, but it wasn’t enough. They ended up losing the game 27-23. It was the lowest scoring output from the Chiefs all season long.

Then, why do the Chiefs get such a large spread this week? This is just one of those weeks where the lines makers put an extra point or two on every line. It makes these much harder to predict, but that’s their point. Nine points is a lot, even after the Chiefs beat their opponent by 35 last week.

The Broncos are dealing with injuries, but so are the Chiefs. Kansas City lost Jordan Devey this week, adding another injury to his offensive line. The Broncos, on the other hand, are dealing with the arrest of backup quarterback Chad Kelly, which will likely be a distraction. The Chiefs offense is rolling too much, and a distracted Broncos team going into Arrowhead Stadium is not a recipe for success.

Washington Redskins (-1) @ New York Giants

The Washington Redskins took a hold onto the NFC East lead when they beat the Dallas Cowboys last week. They are riding a resurgence from Adrian Peterson and smart play from everyone who isn’t Alex Smith. Smith, on the other hand, has been making mental mistakes a veteran shouldn’t. Sure, he’s not turning the ball over, but think about at the end of the game when Smith ran out of bounds instead of sliding, giving the Cowboys more time to make a comeback.

Luckily, the New York Giants will make more mistakes than the Redskins ever could. I mean, you have two of the most skilled offensive players in the league, and you decide to run the ball with Eli Manning? What was that?

As long as the Giants still have Eli Manning trying to win games, they won’t. It’s as simple as that. With the spread being one point, it’s basically picking the winner. There are very few teams we would pick to lose to the Giants. The Redskins are not one of them.
