Alexa Bliss injured, pulled from Evolution PPV match
WWE has now confirmed that Alexa Bliss will not be performing at Evolution on Sunday.
With WWE’s first ever all women’s PPV, Evolution, this Sunday, it looked as if WWE was going out of their way to stack up some of the biggest women stars for their event, whether it may be women from the current or older generation. Raw star Alexa Bliss, who’s been positioned as one of WWE’s top premier women talent, was originally scheduled to team with Mickie James to take on Trish Stratus and Lita in a tag team match.
However, new developments have emerged as WWE has announced today on its official website that Bliss has been pulled from the match due to an injury, with Alicia Fox taking her place. Although Bliss is still expected to appear at the PPV, it looks like due to the injury she sustained, she may not be in any physical action at all.
“The past and present collide at WWE Evolution as WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus & Lita join forces to battle Mickie James & Alicia Fox at the groundbreaking pay-per-view event,” WWE stated (via WWE.com).
“Although James was originally slated to team with Alexa Bliss, The Goddess will not compete due to an injury, and will be replaced by the wily Fox in this blockbuster matchup. The cunning Bliss will still be present in Mickie & Alicia’s corner.”
Since losing to Ronda Rousey at Summerslam, it seems that Bliss has fallen down a level or two in terms of momentum, and being pulled from a tag match with Lita and Trish Stratus may make things worse. With that being said, WWE hasn’t mentioned what type of injury Bliss is suffering from, so her return to in-ring action is an open question. It’s also unknown at this point how much Bliss will appear on Raw while she’s injured, as she may be only scheduled to show up at the Evolution PPV.
