A rare Friday night game in the ACC has the Miami Hurricanes facing off against the Boston College Eagles.

The Miami Hurricanes travel to Boston to play the Boston College Eagles on Friday night. Both teams enter the game with a record of 5-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. These signal different feeling for the two opposing fan bases.

Miami is coming off a bye week after a heartbreaking loss to the Virginia Cavaliers. The team is still juggling quarterbacks between Malik Rosier and N’Kosi Perry. Perry struggled early in the UVA game and was pulled for Rosier. Rosier entered the game against Virginia and did not look to steal the show. Miami coach Mark Richt has declared Rosier the starter for this game but states that Perry will get a chance as well. The old saying of “if you have two quarterbacks, you don’t have one” is ringing throughout the Miami fan base. Most point to Richt’s indecisiveness as the reason for the offensive struggles.

Boston College, on the other hand, is coming off a win against Louisville after a close loss to North Carolina State the week prior. B.C. knows who they are on both sides of the ball. Offensively they are led by true sophomore running back A.J. Dillon, who appears to be healthy once again. The offense flows through this talented back and it averages more rushing yards per game than passing game. In fact, three backs on this B.C. team average over five yards per carry. Defensively they are led by stand out pass rushers Wyatt Ray and Zach Allen.

The game features a strength-versus-strength battle. Miami’s defense is one of the country’s best in almost every facet. Their tackle for loss statistics has been eye-popping the last two years and is continuing this season. Boston College is going to try and run the ball at the front line of the Hurricanes, led by Gerald Willis. Miami’s defense only allows 106 yards per game on the ground, good enough for tenth in the country. The 15th ranked Boston College rushing attack is up for their toughest challenge yet.

How to watch and bet on Miami-Boston College

Miami will be looking for a bounce-back game on the road after a loss that effectively ended any chance of a CFB Playoffs appearance. Boston College has an upset in mind against a reeling Hurricanes team with a question at the most important position. The pass rushers for Boston College could give Miami trouble, much like FSU’s Brian Burns did a few weeks ago. However, the Boston College run game may find it hard to get going. If Miami develops a lead and puts the ball into the quarterbacks hands to beat them, the game will go their way.

This needs to be a statement game from the Hurricanes to re-enter the ACC title discussion. Miami can lean on the ground game and allow the Rosier-Perry debacle to sort itself out. It will be nice to see A.J. Dillon back but regardless of how talented he is, there will not be much daylight against one of the best defenses in the nation.

PredictionMiami wins and covers the spread.
