2. DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins

With Albert Wilson (hip) and Kenny Stills (groin) out Thursday night against the Texans, Parker had six catches (on nine targets) for 134 yards. A big chunk of that yardage came on a fluke, video game deflection off a pass intended Jakeem Grant, but Parker was involved and showed the talent that made him a first-round pick.

Wilson is done for the year, and while Stills may not miss much more time he wasn’t very good before his injury. Trade rumors surrounding Parker seem unlikely to yield a deal, with the Dolphins setting a high asking price, and now that he’s healthy he’s got a real opportunity with how banged up the wide receiving corp is.

The Dolphins looked bad all-around defensively Thursday night, so they could find themselves airing it out plenty no matter who is under center going forward. Week 9 (New York Jets), Week 10 (Green Bay Packers) and Week 11 (Indianapolis Colts) look favorable for the passing game, and wide receivers in particular, and Week 14 (New England Patriots) looks like a game Miami will be trailing in.

Parker is hard to confidently rely on, based on his past underachievement and injury issues. But an opportunity is in front of him now in Miami, and even if he’s traded there should be a good opportunity elsewhere too.
