NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Friday October 26th, 2018
We are back with another NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes for you daily fantasy players. We at FantasyCPR will have you covered with some snipes for tonight’s slate.
Each post will provide a quick recap of players discussed in previous articles. Success is the clear goal, but it is important to understand our misses as well. See if we can find those trends that work, and areas we can improve.
With such an enormous slate last night, I won’t bore you with results from each game. Instead we can focus on the major performances. Jaroslav Halak of the Bruins shut out the Flyers at home. The Blue Jackets tallied seven goals against the Blues in St. Louis. The defense took over the score sheet as Scott Harrington, Ryan Murray, Zach Werenski, David Savard, and Seth Jones tallied either a goal or assist. Pittsburgh embarrassed the Flames in Calgary with a 9-1 victory. Evan Bouchard scored his first career goal for the Oilers in a 4-1 win over the defending Stanley Cup Champs.
Below is a recap of Snipes we discussed in the last article.
Oct. 25
Nicklas Backstrom – Backstrom and the Caps were hushed tonight in a 4-1 loss to Edmonton.
Tyler Seguin – 6 shots on net. 1 blocked shot and 18:56 time on ice.
Sidney Crosby – 1 goal and 2 assists. 16:54 time on ice
Brandon Saad – 1 shot on goal. 18:17 time on ice.
T.J. Oshie – See Backstrom.
Tyler Pitlick – 1 assist and 2 shots on net.
Matthew Tkachuk – Rough night all around in Calgary. A -4 for Tkachuk. If there is DFS Acting, he should be on your radar.
John Carlson – 1 assist and 4 shots on goal. 2 hits and 4 blocked shots.
Vince Dunn -1 assist and team high 24 minutes of ice time.
Erik Gustafsson – 1 shot on goal and 2 blocked shots. 23:01 ice time, 2nd most on the night.
Corey Crawford – Earned the W. 1 goal against and 18 saves.
Ben Bishop – Won the game with 23 saves and 2 goals against.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Centers
Mark Scheifele Jets ($7,200)
The stack I’m looking to play tonight avoids the potential chalk in Colorado, saves you money, and could provide quite the offensive punch. Although a Sharks top line stack is even cheaper, the outstanding possession metrics of both teams scare me off at the chance of a slower paced low scoring affair.
So let’s start with the top center for Winnipeg. Scheifele leads the team in points with 10 and heads the top power play line. He’s had goals in two straight including a two goal and two assist night against the Blues. Also, it is important to note that he has seen 25 minutes of ice time in back to back games.
Dylan Larkin Red Wings ($5,300)
Although the Red Wings are in a downward spiral, Larkin remains one of the lone bright spots. He has seven points through nine games with 4.1 FPPG. Hopefully you aren’t superstitious, but even with the Red Wings struggles, they have yet to be shut out this season. His speed makes him a threat in basically any match up, as even the best teams won’t be able to slow down his motor. Larkin is coming off his best season last year where his goals were down a bit but the assists more than doubled his career high with 47.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Wingers
Blake Wheeler Jets ($6,700)
Wheeler sits just one point behind his line mate and team leader in points. I love this line tonight with the Red Wings struggling against all three offensive positions, 26th vs. RW, 31st, vs. LW, and 23rd vs. C. Wheeler has played more of the set up roll on the Jets first power play line with five of his seven assists with a man advantage.
Patrik Laine Jets ($7,100)
Laine is off to a slow start in the point category, but that will soon change. For a guy with his size and shooting ability, it is just a matter of time before he starts scoring. He holds a team high 40 shots on net. The only worry I have is that all three of his goals have come on the power play. However, the last two seasons indicate that he is not just a PP threat, but can score at even strength as well. In his rookie season he had 27 even strength goals and 24 in his second year. If the Jets can overwhelm a struggling Red Wings team tonight, they could see a few power play opportunities.
J.T. Miller Lightning ($4,400)
Miller provides value to your line up at this low price. He really began breaking out with the New York Rangers in 2015/16 with 43 points and his first 20 goal season and hasn’t looked back. He played in 63 games with the Rangers last year before being moved to an already powerful Lightning squad. He thrived with his new team scoring 10 goals and eight assists in 19 games. Now full-time with Tampa, he is at a point per game. I’m not as worried that he plays on the fourth line because he still lines up Kucherov, Stamkos, Killorn and Hedman on the first power play unit.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Defense and Goalies
Dustin Byfuglien Jets ($5,700)
We can go back to the well with Byfuglien tonight in this match up against the Red Wings. He did not tally a point in his last outing against a rejuvenated Leafs team, however still managed four fantasy points. He had five shots on goal, three blocked shots and was on the ice for 27 minutes. Buf plays the point on the second power play unit which is responsible for three of his four assists.

Erik Karlsson Sharks ($5,600)
Karlsson still has not hit the back of the net yet, which is strange given his offensive talent. This may be a low scoring game tonight, but why not throw in one of the top offensive defensive man in this generation. He has reached the cheapest price we’ve seen this season but still plays a huge role on the rush at even strength and on the power play. Karlsson is still seeing major ice time and taking a fair amount of shots. His CF% and FF% remain up near 60 and offensive zone starts at 54% bodes well, even in a match up against a team that also possesses the puck well.
Philipp Grubauer Avalanche ($8,100)
Grubauer had spent his entire career with the Washington Capitals before joining the Avs this season. He may not be the full-time starter, but gets another opportunity tonight and has improved upon each start. He lost his first outing on road in Columbus, but came up with big wins in New Jersey and Carolina. The Carolina win was very impressive with 42 saves and only one goal against leading to a 10.4 fantasy point night.
