Welcome to this edition of NBA FanDuel DFS Targets from FantasyCPR.com. Here you will find players to target for tonight’s action, geared for cash games and tournament plays on FanDuel.

Welcome to today’s edition of my NBA FanDuel Targets for NBA DFS. For those of you familiar with my PGA targets piece I do weekly here for FantasyCPR, this will be very similarly structured. First, I will go over players to target at each position for today’s small four-game slate, starting early, at 5:00 ET. I will give two targets at each the guard and forward positions, and one center. Following the picks, will be the ever popular “sample lineup” we like to do here at FantasyCPR.  Some plays will be geared toward cash games, and some for GPP. Some of course will also technically qualify as both. As we break each play down, I will be sure to specify which type of contests I am targeting that player in.

With NBA, I can’t stress enough how important it is to not just plug-and-play these sample lineups as silly as it sounds. There is so much info that will drop in the course of the day for NBA, and you never truly know what to expect. If you want to be a consistent winner for NBA, lock starts at 7PM ET on most week nights. Plan on being ready to tinker those lineups last second, accounting for all of that fabulous NBA news that nobody was expecting five minutes before, or even AFTER lock. It happens all of the time, so if you set your lineup now and forget it, it’s probably not going to work out for you in the long run.

Happy Sunday Funday FantasyCPR FanDuel Targets faithful!! It’s only been like five days of writing this piece but I am proud to say it is by far my best, if I do say so myself. I could say a lot of things about the NBA and FanDuel but I will say that this is the happiest I have been writing an article to this point. It’s probably well-known if you know who I am as writer, that DRAFT is my forte. However, I have found a new passion for not only the horrible products that are the NBA and FanDuel, but for writing daily, and being excited about it. And for the record, I still love the NBA and FanDuel, or I wouldn’t play or write. No questions asked. I don’t write about DraftKings because I don’t play there. Plain and simple. On to today’s targets!

NBA FanDuel DFS: Point Guards:

Russell Westbrook – Oklahoma City Thunder – $12,700 – (Cash)

We will have to wait until closer to tip-off for news that Westbrook will indeed give it a go today. Right now he is questionable with shoulder soreness, which kept him out of practice yesterday. If he does play, and even if he is limited, he should have his way with Phoenix Suns, who will likely be without star shooting guard Devin Booker. Westbrook has only played in two games to this point, and he is coming off of a 15 rebound performance against the Celtics in a losing effort on Thursday.

Speaking of losing efforts, The Thunder are still seeking their first win on the season. Their record sits at 0-4 in the early goings, and a date with the ailing Suns could be exactly what they need to get in the win column. On a short slate like this, it is hard to overlook the superstars. $12,700 is pretty ridiculous I’ll admit, but there just may be enough value to make it work. If Russ can’t go, back-up Dennis Schroder of course becomes a lock in cash games, but he is a shooting guard on FanDuel, which will actually help that position today.

Ricky Rubio – Utah Jazz – $5,700 – (GPP)

While he isn’t much of scoring threat, Rubio got hot yesterday against the Pelicans, as he had easily his best game of the season to this point, with 28 points, 12 assists, and six rebounds for a total of 54.2 FDP. The assists and steals are always are a part of Rubio’s game, but when he can score some points, he can win you a GPP. The Pelicans were down big man Anthony Davis, which opened things up for Rubio and Rudy Gobert to dominate in the paint, and the 3-2 Jazz put up 132 in New Orleans.

You always have to be prepared for letdown with Rubio however, as he also capable of dropping a dud at anytime as well. In Utah’s previous game, the Spaniard scored only 15.4 FDP against the Rockets, with just four points, six assists and two rebounds. My point is, anything can happen with Rubio, making him more of a GPP play. If you want a cash pivot look to Mavericks point guard JJ Barea. Dennis Smith Jr. may return for this game, but Barea will still get solid run regardless.

***Also Consider: John Wall $9,500 – (GPP), JJ Barea $4,500 – (Cash)***

NBA FanDuel DFS: Shooting Guards:

Klay Thompson – Golden State Warriors – $6,200 – (Cash)

I am going to start this one by saying I am not at all comfortable with it. In fact, if I could skip the whole position I would. Of course the options are going to be limited here on a four game slate, so I am going to take a chance today, and target a couple of players who aren’t quite playing to the best of their ability so far this early season.

Thompson’s game is his defense, and his outside shot. When the three-ball is not dropping for him, he likely is putting up mediocre 20-25 FDP games. The Warriors will be in Brooklyn to face the 2-3 Nets, and despite the fear of the blowout, Thompson is projected to crack 30 FDP here, even though he has done so just once in five games this season. Being the third scoring option on a stacked team makes Thompson a fade most days, but on a four-game slate, anything is in play. Remember though to check on Westbrook, because Schroder is the obvious pivot here at this position.

Avery Bradley – Los Angeles Clippers – $3,900 – (GPP/Punt)

Since FanDuel changed their rules this season by dropping your player with the lowest score, playing at least one player under $4K is almost mandatory it seems. It’s been a rough start for Bradley and virtually all of the Clippers, but a salary this low on a guy who will likely play between 23-28 minutes is worth the punt. Bradley is coming off of his best game of the season, which isn’t saying much. In 24 minutes, Bradley mustered up 14 points, with three rebounds and a steal, for 18.6 FDP. A defensive player, he has not had more than one steal in a game, and will likely need to pick up his game if wants to stay in the starting rotation, as Lou Williams continues to come off the bench. If you say no way to this and need a pivot, which I wouldn’t blame you, give a solid look to Allen Crabbe, who is coming off of a 22 minute, 25 FDP performance.

***Also Consider: Dennis Schroder $6,700 – (Cash), Allen Crabbe $3,600 – (GPP/Punt)***

NBA FanDuel DFS: Small Forwards:

Kevin Durant – Golden State Warriors – $10,200 – (Cash/GPP)

Durant and the Warriors continue their weekend New York tour in a clash with the Nets today, after handling the Knicks easily on Friday night by a score of 128-100. KD followed up his 53.1 FDP performance against the Wizards in similar fashion, scoring 41 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing out five assists. Those totals equaled 56.3 FDP, giving Durant back-to-back 50+ FDP games, and three out of six over 50 this season. Honestly with those numbers, his salary should be up there with Westbrooks, so I look at this as a discount. With other factors still in question on this slate, I would lock in Durant in all formats, and go from there.

Jeff Green – Washington Wizards – $4,000 – (GPP)

A new team this season for veteran swing-man Jeff Green, and he appears to filling his bench role comfortably with the Wizards. He is clearly becoming one of the top scoring options on the second unit, and has managed double-digits in four of five games this season. Washington is on a California road trip at the moment, and will be facing the Clippers in what should be another fast paced, high scoring affair. Green is coming off of his best performance of the season to this point, with 13 points and 9 rebounds in a 116-112 losing effort in Sacramento against the Kings on Friday. That production matched his highest FDP output of the season, with 27.3. If he can push that out to 30 while getting acclimated to his new team, he could be a DFS asset all season at 32-years-old. Also of note, Markieff Morris did miss practice yesterday with the flu, but is expected to be good to go for tonight, if he doesn’t suit up, Green and Kelly Oubre Jr. figure to be the prime beneficiaries of the minutes that will need to be made up.

***Also Consider: Danilo Gallinari $7,000 – (Cash)***

NBA FanDuel DFS: Power Forwards:

Montrezl Harrell – Los Angeles Clippers – $5,500 – (Cash/GPP)

Things do not seem to be going as planned for the Clippers this season, but in the grand scheme of things, they are 3-2, and winning ball games. Tobias Harris and Gallinari were expected to be the top scoring threats, but Harrell has been playing lights out for three straight games, and his minutes are steadily increasing because of it. I am kind of on the fence still to make him a sure-fire cash play, but I certainly say he his cash viable on a four-game slate. In case you missed it, Harrell is coming off of a 30 point, six rebound, 49.7 FDP performance in just 27 minutes if action against his former team, the Houston Rockets. Two of his last three games have gone for 40+ FDP and the other was impressive as well, as he managed 30.7 FDP, in just 22 minutes. Harrell is on fire right now, and this is a perfect value play on a short slate.

Jerami Grant – Oklahoma City Thunder – $4,800 – (Cash)

Grant is not much of scoring threat for OKC considering Westbrook, Paul George and Steven Adams usually get the first looks, but Grant entered the starting lineup last time out against the Celtics, and was pretty serviceable against a tough team. He played 30 minutes, and was able to muster up 25.7 FDP. At another pretty thin position on a short slate, Grant under $5k against the Suns seems like a lock. This will be especially true if Westbrook sits out, which I have a feeling will happen. With lock coming two hours before this game starts, we may not have any word on Westbrook’s status, which will make things difficult. My personal approach is to play light anyways on a short slate, and I will be ready to pivot off of Russ if we get no further news.

***Also Consider: Josh Jackson $4,000 – (Cash/GPP) – (If Devin Booker is out!)

NBA FanDuel DFS: Center Targets:

Ian Mahinmi – Washington Wizards – $3,500 – (GPP/Punt)

Even though Mahinmi is still nursing a sore back, he is in line to pick up another start at the center position with Dwight Howard still out. Mahinmi missed the tilt with the Warriors on the 24th, but returned to action against Sacramento on Friday. He only managed just over 18 FDP in 18 minutes, but could be asked to do a little more if Morris misses this game with the flu.

More from FanSided

Truthfully, this is the position to punt on this slate in my opinion. Mahinmi could sneak in a double-double and get you 25-30 FDP, but we know that is unlikely. However, the two top centers on the slate will be doing battle in Dallas, as Rudy Gobert will face DeAndre Jordan. The defense of both of those guys should curb the offensive output of the other, so I don’t envision big fantasy games from either. Again, I would rather pay up for Durant, and Russ if he plays, then try to decide which center to pay up for here.

***Also Consider: DeAndre Jordan $7,900 – (Cash/GPP)***
