College football rankings: Week 10 AP Top 25 – Washington State crashes Top 10
After 10 ranked teams lost, the Week 10 AP Top 25 looks radically different beyond the Top 5.
This was supposed to be a quiet week of college football with several top-ranked teams on their bye week. So much for that after a slew of ranked teams were upset or lost to other ranked teams as was the case for Florida, Stanford and Iowa.
The top five won’t have any disturbances after Alabama, LSU and Michigan were idle and No. 2 Clemson steam-rolled over Florida State and No. 3 Notre Dame took care of business against Navy.
Outside the top 5 is where things really got interesting. Texas was the highest-ranked team to lose in Week 9 after they fell at Oklahoma State. That made them the tenth ranked team to lose but there was one more ranked team still in action. But the Ducks became the 11th ranked team to lose around 2 a.m. ET at Arizona in a laugher. Overall, the Top 25 went 9-11 with five teams idle.
Texas lost to Oklahoma State, Florida to Georgia, Washington to Cal, Texas A&M to Mississippi State, Iowa to Penn State, Oregon to Arizona, Wisconsin to Northwestern, USF to Houston, NC State to Syracuse, Stanford to Washington State and Appalachian State losing to Georgia Southern means there will be a lot of new teams in this week’s Top 25. In fact, the seven new teams represent the biggest upheaval since the Top 25 poll began in 1989.
