D.J. Moore, WR, Carolina Panthers
Stats: five catches, 90 yards, two rushes for 39 yards
It’s taken D.J. Moore eight weeks but he finally had a breakout performance. The rookie wide receiver has been a minor part of the game plan until this week. This isn’t a huge shock as rookie wide receivers tend to take some time to adjust to the NFL game.
Moore ‘s versatility and big-play ability could really help the Carolina Panthers offensive attack. This is a unit that could benefit from more explosive plays downfield.
Cam Newton looked Moore’s way a total of six times which was a season high. Carolina also handed him the ball twice which also resulted in some good yardage. This type of versatility tends to cause headaches for opposing defenses.
Obviously, one breakout performance doesn’t guarantee that Moore will be a fantasy star. The Panthers need to keep him involved in the game plan and find ways to get him the ball. He can’t be productive if he doesn’t get the opportunities.
The hope is that this past week was a turning point and the Panthers will finally start targeting their first round pick. Add more this week if you have room on your roster for a high upside play. If you need a bye week filler maybe look for a more reliable option.
