Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Stats: 2,526 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, 6 INTs, 119 rushing yards, 2 touchdowns

Patrick Mahomes is nothing short of amazing. His 26 touchdowns through the first eight games of a NFL season ties only Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. With Mahomes in elite company each and every week it’s hard to bet against him. Week 9 he gets the Cleveland Browns and their 28th-ranked defense. We will definitely see a few more touchdowns.

There is so much to say about this young gunslinger. A lot of retired football players have compared him to a young Brett Favre. Even some analysts have backed up that claim. Whether he is or isn’t a young Favre, Mahomes has still put himself in the history books week in and week out. Week 8 he put himself right next to future Hall of Famers Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

Mahomes leads the league is passing yards and passing touchdowns. Even his two rushing touchdowns is third-ranked in the NFL among quarterbacks. Mahomes has put on a clinic in his first year as a starter. He sat behind Alex Smith whom the Chiefs let walk to Washington in the offseason. His one year learning the system has proven to be the right call by quarterback whisperer Andy Reid.

This season Mahomes is the best start week in and week out as he is averaging 315 passing yards per game, three passing touchdowns, 23 completions and 14 rushing yards per game. His volume is the highest among quarterbacks and he will continue that high volume passing game once again in Week 9 against a very poor passing defense of the Cleveland Browns.

Prediction: 350 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, 20 rushing yards
