Matt Hardy, who’s currently inactive on Raw, recently spoke on Lillian Garcia’s podcast to discuss his status with the WWE and addressed rumors that he’s retired. Hardy made it clear that he isn’t retiring from in-ring action.
It’s been speculated throughout the internet that Raw superstar and pro wrestling veteran Matt Hardy has retired from in-ring action due to reported injuries he sustained not too long ago. However, Hardy was able to clear the air as he appeared on Lillian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast to address his current situation with WWE, as he stated that he isn’t retiring from wrestling. While Hardy also made a point that he isn’t getting any younger and even discussed his injuries, he went on to clarify that reports of his apparent retirement are not true.
“Well, that’s funny because, once again, people had quoted that I had left WWE and threw around the word ‘retirement,'” Hardy said. “But typically when someone teases it, it’s retirement but I never said retirement.
“I said that I needed to go home, which I really did after being there for a year-and-a-half and working on a full time schedule the entire time I was there. Obviously, I am not a spring chicken anymore. I have been doing this for 26 years in October. I needed to go home and needed to address some issues that I was having with my lower back and my hips. If I can bounce back from those issues and get back into the ring and be physical in the ring that is great, and if I can’t then I will do whatever we need to do on air to be entertaining for Matt Hardy. But as far as leaving WWE that hasn’t happened.”
It’s unknown at this time when Hardy might be coming back to WWE, but due to the creative genius that Hardy possesses, it’s safe to say that he won’t have such a hard time staying relevant in the wrestling world. Retired or not, Hardy will always be remembered for his longevity in wrestling.
