AC Milan and Genoa were originally supposed to play on the opening weekend of the Serie A season. However, after the Genoa bridge disaster happened days before the game, claiming the lives of 43 people. After the game was postponed the two teams will now play on Halloween Wednesday in Milan.
Milan continued their run up the table after beating Sampdoria 3-2 over the weekend. After picking up only six points in their first five games, Milan have won three of their last four games to sit seventh in the table. Gonzalo Higuain scored his fifth goal of the season against Sampdoria, with all five goals coming in the last five games he has played in. Higuain will lead the line against Genoa and will be the focus of Milan’s attack.
Genoa are 11th in Serie A after settling for a 2-2 draw with Udinese. Krzysztof Piatek has come out of nowhere to become one of the most in-demand strikers in Italy. The Polish striker scored nine goals in the first seven games of the season but has not scored in the last two games. While Piatek and Genoa have been able to score goals this season, they cannot keep the ball out of their own net. In nine games, Genoa have allowed 17 goals and have kept only two clean sheets.
