Next Game: @ Texas Tech
Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray could be the biggest competition Tua has for the Heisman right now. He’s a true dual-threat quarterback who is shredding defenses with both his arm and his legs and leading the nation in passing percentage for qualifying QBs, completing 73.2 percent of his passes.
Murray didn’t have a huge game against Kansas State, but it was still a solid performance. Had he been more Kyler-ish against the Wildcats he might be sitting at the top of this list today.
Texas Tech is in the bottom third of the nation in total defense, giving up 424 yards per game, and comes in at 70th in scoring defense giving up 28.1 points per game. With Oklahoma clicking on offense and improving on defense, this one could shape up to be a doozy for Murray.
A 350-400 yard (or more) day with a few touchdowns and a couple of memorable plays will do a lot to push Murray to the top of the Heisman list should the frontrunner struggle this week.
Speaking of him…
