Landon Collins is happy the Giants didn’t trade him
With the struggling New York Giants continuing to regress, the Giants made trades leading up to Tuesday’s deadline. Landon Collins is just glad he wasn’t one of them.
4:00 PM Yesterday (Tuesday, October 30) was the trade deadline and while there wasn’t many, there were some big moves. The New York Giants apparently made their moves last week, trading Snacks Harrison to the Detroit Lions and Eli Apple to the New Orleans Saints. Since the Giants are making it clear that they are already looking ahead to next season, Landon Collins appeared to think that his name would be next on the trading block for the deadline. But, the Giants didn’t field any offers to warrant a trade, and Collins remains a Giant.
Colling would comment on the whole affair, stating he was glad he wasn’t traded from the Giants, aspiring to be like Lawerence Taylor and Michael Strahan, defensive stars who played the entire duration of their careers with New York.
"It’s not clear what the Giants real intentions are. Collins certainly doesn’t seem to know what the future holds for him either, but he made it clear that he’s hoping the Giants want to keep him for a while.“Honestly it’s always been my dream to be one of those guys like LT, Michael Strahan, those guys that finish their years on one team,” Collins said on The Michael Kay Show. “It’s a dream of mine to do that. If I can, it’s a blessing in my eyes.”"
Collins is one of the Giants best defensive players, and it makes sense for the team to keep their two-time Pro Bowler and 2016 All-Pro safety. The Giants, with a 1-7 record, perhaps are out of the playoff hunt for this season, but it looks like they are locking in their cornerstones for the future. Collins and the Giants won’t have the season they anticipated this year, but he is young enough that the Giants can build their defense around him for years to come.
