4. Boston College Eagles

Rank: 22 | Opponent: Virginia Tech Hokies | Time: 3:45 p.m. ET

We should start by saying that the ACC as a whole is a complete mess in the 2018 college football season. Outside of Clemson, the teams that were supposed to lead the way for the conference have fallen miles short of expectations. Meanwhile, it’s been a trend throughout the year of the teams looking like they could step up and take those positions of the disappointing teams going out and then disappointing themselves.

The latter scenario presents itself before the Boston College Eagles heading into Week 10. After toppling the Miami Hurricanes — the most notable and extreme example of the aforementioned disappointing teams — last week in emphatic fashion, the Eagles climbed to No. 22 in the rankings and they look to try and stay there after losing earlier in the season when they were able to crack the polls.

Having said that, this week will take the Eagles on the road for a matchup with the Virginia Tech Hokies. To be clear, this has been a forgettable year for the Hokies as a whole. There is obviously the Old Dominion upset loss to speak of, but most recently they were also routed by Georgia Tech, which not may would have foreseen before that game kicked off.

Having said that, this is still a talented Virginia Tech team with weapons on both sides of the ball. And while Boston College is balanced as well, this feels like a trap game in Blacksburg where they could let up a bit and be in some trouble.
