DraftKings CFB picks November 1: Get ready for some DFS MACtion! We don’t get the MAC in here very often, so let’s make the most of it!

We have three games in the Thursday DraftKings CFB tournament. There is plenty of MACtion and UCF. What more do you need?

More from College Football Odds

I was heading down here last Thursday, so I didn’t really hit the NCAA tournaments that night. I built on the wrong pieces of the Indiana offense and finished well shy of the 151 DraftKings point money line. We can expect it to be in the same area tonight even though a power five conference is not involved in this one.

The scoring for NCAA football is much the same as it is for the NFL with one notable exception: the super flex! That means aside from the flex position which is RB/WR, you can add another player from any position! Want four running backs? Go right ahead! Five wide receivers? Sure! Two quarterbacks? Of course! Just stay under the salary cap! There is also late swap, which is essential for contests with start times spanning several hours.

For you first time players, if you would like $10 in free DraftKings entry tickets, use this link for the referral bonus with your first deposit of $5 or more! You can use those DraftKings dollars to enter tournaments. We have plenty of advice on the site to help you turn that $10 into more!

Top Tier:

If McKenzie Milton starts, he’s a full go for me. If Darriel Mack gets the start, I’m laying off of this one. Temple’s pass defense is very good. Using Mack in his first start at this high of a price seems like a really bad idea. There are six teams in action. We can do better.

Among FBS opponents, only Northern Illinois has held Nathan Rourke under 24 DraftKings points this year. In fact, I could (and am) going to make the case that Rourke should be your top target regardless of the status of Milton. This is a game that UCF could lose, and the Temple D is a big reason why.

Middle Tier:

I would much rather play Anthony Russo against UCF than any UCF quarterback against the Temple D.

Kaleb Eleby was a serviceable replacement for Jon Wassink. Ohio may have an explosive offense, but they still give up a ton of points. I wouldn’t expect a huge game from Eleby, but he is a decent punt play.

Bargain Shoppers:

There are only two in this tier, and neither are a great option. I am leaning towards Kato Nelson, but the Northern Illinois defense has been really solid all year. If pressed, I would use Marcus Childers against the Akron defense. This is all a play on the opposing defense. Childers has been good in great matchups. This seems to be one of those.

Top Tier:

Good luck figuring out who is going to be the best producer between Bellamy and Bogan. I view Bogan as a slightly better play, but with this kind of matchup, I would play both or neither. You simply don’t know which one is the best play on any given night.

I really like Ryquell Armstead if he is able to play tonight. Temple thought he would be a go after their bye last week, but he is still listed as a game time decision. Keep an eye on this because Armstead is definitely worth the reward if he’s a go.

Middle Tier:

I actually see Adrian Killins as a decent play here, especially if Milton is out. Temple’s run defense hasn’t been as strong as their pass defense. If UCF rips off a chunk play or two, its likely going to be in the run game instead of the passing game.

If you want to use an Ohio back, I would lean towards A.J. Oulette. However, this is a true timeshare against a pretty strong run defense. There should be better places to attack.

Bargain Shoppers:

Jager Gardner hasn’t been all that good with Armstead out, so if you are looking for this massive value play with a starter out, you will likely be disappointed. However, the UCF run defense is the worst Temple has faced in that span, so I could see Gardner giving us good numbers. He’s not going to get in the mid 20’s though. It’s just not in him.

I really don’t care for anyone else in this tier. I suppose you could put a rock in a slingshot with one of the other UCF backs and hope for a direct hit, but not many people are comfortable playing that way. The only other real play in this tier is Tre Harbison, but he has been average or worse all season long.

Top Tier:

Most of the teams in action are rushing teams, so it’s easy to say you shouldn’t pay for receivers. This is one slate where I disagree. Jaydon Reed had a monster game with Wassink out, and should be in line for another tonight against Ohio. Papi White is the big play guy on an Ohio offense that churns out quite a few of them. A receiver that gets a lot of touches no matter what is always on my radar. I like both here tonight.

Middle Tier:

Even if Milton plays, I’m not on any of the UCF receivers, and that’s about all there is in this tier. Temple’s pass defense is good, and UCF spreads the ball around so much that it is hard to pick just which one will have the better game. Playing all is usually an option with UCF, but definitely not tonight regardless of Milton’s status.

Bargain Shoppers:

Branden Mack is easily the best of the rest, especially since Temple can throw the ball now. They would still rather run, but regardless of the status of Armstead, Temple is still going to run first. However, Russo is still going to throw it around, making Isaiah Wright an interesting value play as well.

Andrew Meyer is one of the best cheap plays at receivers we have had in a while. It’s a dream matchup, and Meyer has double digit DraftKings points in four straight games.

If you need to go really cheap, Giovanni Ricci caught a season high four passes with Wassink out last week. Can he get the looks again?
