NBA FanDuel DFS Targets: Thursday November 1st: All Sixers on All Saints Day!
Welcome to this edition of NBA FanDuel DFS Targets from FantasyCPR.com. Here you will find players to target for tonight’s action, geared for cash games and tournament plays on FanDuel.
Welcome to today’s edition of my NBA FanDuel Targets for NBA DFS. First, I will go over players to target at each position for today’s six-game slate, starting at our usual time of 7:00 PM ET. I will give two targets at each of the guard and forward positions, and one center. Following the picks, will be the ever popular “sample lineup” we like to do here at FantasyCPR. Some plays will be geared toward cash games, and some for GPP. Some of course will also technically qualify as both. As we break each play down, I will be sure to specify which type of contests I am targeting that player in.
With NBA, I can’t stress enough how important it is to not just plug-and-play these sample lineups. There is so much info that will drop over the course of the day for NBA, and you never truly know what to expect. If you want to be a consistent winner for NBA, lock starts at 7PM ET on most week nights. Plan on being ready to tinker those lineups last second, accounting for all of that fabulous NBA news that nobody was expecting five minutes before, or even AFTER lock. It happens all of the time, so if you set your lineup now and forget it, it’s probably not going to work out for you in the long run.
All Sixers on All Saints Day:
Well we got a nice little Tuesday treat on the night before Halloween, with a rare, eight-game slate on what is normally a day with just three to five games or so. Then on Wednesday, we kind of get the opposite with a seven-game slate, on what is normally a day we get a nice 10 or 11 gamer. Now today, on a day I was fully expecting a three or four game slate, we have a nice little six game slate. Only two teams will be on a back-to-back, so we have a few games that should be close, and a couple that may get out of hand.
The Nuggets are the first team on the second leg of a back-to-back, as they head into Cleveland to face the 1-6 Cavs. Since Denver should handle this easy, I like the second team if anything in this one. Guys like Monte Morris and Trey Lyles could put up some decent numbers and hit value, if they can pick up some extra minutes, This may the biggest spread of the day, as it sits as the Nuggets as six point road favorites, and looks like it could still be a blowout.
The other team on the second leg of the back-to-back will be the Pelicans, as they head from Golden State to Portland to face the Trail Blazers. New Orleans got Anthony Davis back from his two game absence, now we will have to wait and see if he can play two in a row. I would like to think AD will be a lock on this slate, but after some debate, I see a game stack I want to attack.
Philadelphia sits as 4.5 point favorites at home against the Clippers. On a six game slate, this looks like the type of game to attack. As of this moment, this is the highest total on the slate at 228.5, but we are still waiting on a line for the Portland/New Orleans, assuming it lies on whether or not Davis will play in the back-to-back. I think a Sixers stack here ran back with a Clipper or two could be a recipe for success today, so let’s break it down.
NBA FanDuel DFS: Point Guards:
Ben Simmons – Philadelphia 76ers – $9,800 – (GPP)
Simmons definitely had a game to forget at Toronto on Tuesday, as the Raptors were able to force him into 11 turnovers… Yikes. Simmons almost actually had the quadruple-double you don’t want if you know what I mean, coming up just short of the natural triple-double, with 11 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds to go with those turnovers. Now the young point guard will tangle with the defense of Patrick I think Russell Westbrook and Dame Lillard will get plenty of love in tournaments tonight as more expensive options than Simmons, so that fact, coupled with the fact he is coming off of a bad game, should lower the ownership a bit, making him a solid GPP play that could win you a tournament.
Kyrie Irving – Boston Celtics – $7,600 – (Cash/GPP)
A very slow start for Irving has led to the All-Stars salary dropping below $8K, which is quite the surprise. After two consecutive games failing to top 26 FDP, I guess the price decline was certainly warranted. However, Irving finally busted out in a big way on Tuesday against Detroit, shooting 10-16 from the field for 31 points, while adding five rebounds and five assists. The 45.5 FDP was his best performance on the season to this point, and a welcome sight for Boston fans. The Celtics will be trying to hand the Bucks their first loss of the season, and they will need Irving to pick up where he left off against the Pistons.
***Also Consider: Kemba Walker $9,200 – (Cash), Frank Jackson $4,100 – (GPP/Punt)***
NBA FanDuel DFS: Shooting Guards:
Dennis Schroder – Oklahoma City Thunder – $5,100 – (GPP)
With the return of Westbrook, Schroder has returned to his bench role to run the point with the second team. FanDuel still has him as a shooting guard though, and with the options at the at top being mediocre at best, Schroder remains in play for me. This should be a close game for the Thunder, as they head to Charlotte to face the 4-4 Hornets. My guess is he should see defense from seasoned vet Tony Parker, who is coming off a big offensive night for his new club. I don’t think Parker can keep up with Schroder here, and he could easily get us 30 FDP if he can get 30 minutes. However, since Westbrook’s return, Schroder has not played more than 26 minutes in a game. While I am not 100% comfortable here, the position is limited in my opinion, with plenty of other places to spend up.
Monte Morris – Denver Nuggets – $4,900 – (Cash)
The sophomore back-up guard Morris is now a couple games removed from his big games last week against the Lakers and Clippers. In fact, he is so far removed it seems, that last night in 24 minutes, he wasn’t even able to break 10 FDP. Well just when everyone will likely be done with this experiment, I am going to stick it out for one more game. The Nuggets will be on the second leg of a back-to-back, but they will travel into The Land, to face the 1-6 Cavaliers.
The Cavs just received a huge blow learning their best player Kevin Love will miss significant time with injury, so my thought is the Nuggets still get out to a big lead here, giving plenty of run to Morris and the second unit late in the game. The Cavs just fired coach Tyronn Lue, and I think teams will be able to have their way with this team until new coach Larry Drew gets comfortable and figures out what he has with this team. It’s all about salary relief for me today at the shooting guard position, and there is certainly some risk here.
***Also Consider: Jrue Holiday $8,300 – (GPP), Frank Mason III $3,800 – (GPP/Punt)***
NBA FanDuel DFS: Small Forwards:
Giannis Antetokounmpo – Milwaukee Bucks – $11,500 – (GPP)
Because this position is pretty loaded today, and Giannis does have a fairly tough match-up with the stingy Celtics, this one is a tough call today. It is only a six game slate which means the top options are limited. This is quite the discount to AD, with pretty close to the same ceiling. However, also like Davis, returning from injury is always means for caution. Antetekounmpo missed just one game with the concussion, and word is that he has cleared protocol, and will be back in action tonight. I personally do not think I will go here tonight, but obviously because I feel the Sixers are just too low-priced across the board.
Nicolas Batum – Charlotte Hornets – $6,600 – (Cash)
It has been a quiet year for the veteran to this point, but Batum finally made his presence felt on Tuesday, dropping 20 points on what was supposed to be Kemba Walker night. Normally known for his defenses prowess and doing everything else but scoring, Batum got a hot hand and was able to manage 31.9 FDP. Although the steals and rebounds are down bit, Batum finally looks healthy, and the minutes are back up over 30 a game night in and night out. There is certainly risk here for cash games as he needs at least 35 FDP to make this price worth it, and he has done that just once in eight games thus far. However, small slate, and not a whole lot of value options to work with,
***Also Consider: Robert Covington $6,500 – (Cash/GPP), E’Twaun Moore $4,400 – (GPP/Punt), Sam Dekker $4,500 – (Cash/GPP/Punt)***
NBA FanDuel DFS: Power Forwards:
Anthony Davis – New Orleans Pelicans – $12,800 – (GPP)
If he plays, he is always in play. We all know he is fragile, but general shoulder soreness and a two game absence because of it and I would think he is fine. Now I don’t think I need to jam him in cash games at this price with the other options we have, but I do think he could be a nice 10-20% GPP play that could break the slate. Ownership may even be further down, due to the fact the Pelicans are on a back-to-back, and there is always that fear that he leaves early, and your DFS night is over. He did play 41 minutes in his return last night, so use caution here.
Dario Saric – Philadelphia 76ers – $5,200 – (Cash)
It has been kind of a rough start to the season fantasy points wise anyways for Saric, but we know the big power forward can get hot and put you up some numbers. He started out the season looking a lot like he did last year, putting up somewhere around 15 points and grabbing almost 10 boards, but the numbers have really tailed off the last three games. Despite playing 30 minutes or relatively close to that, Saric has failed to break even 20 FDP the last three games. Therefore, you think this is the opposite of a cash play and more like a GPP play, However, with a thin power forward position, and the options extremely limited on a short slate, Saric is my guy, and he helps round out the Sixers stack.
***Also Consider: Anthony Davis $12,800 – (GPP), Trey Lyles $4,400 – (Cash)***
NBA FanDuel DFS: Center Targets:
Joel Embiid – Philadelphia 76ers – $10,900 – (Cash/GPP)
Another day, Another Embiid write-up. I am fairly certain he was the Monday target as well, but that could simply be because of this egregious pricing error. If you really think about, Embiid is just as likely to drop 80 FDP as AD or Antetetokounmpo, yet we still him under $11K. My guess here is that this slight drop is because of the slight let-down on Monday, when he only managed 28.2 FDP against the Hawks. Embiid did bounce right back against Toronto on Tuesday for 31 points and 11 rebounds, to get back over that 50+ FDP mark. It gets pretty thin at Center today pretty quick. I think paying up here is the only option today.
