Fantasy Football: Impactful NFL DFS Injuries: Week 9
With extensive coverage of the National Football League and how it pertains to fantasy sports, information about Fantasy Football Injuries to skill position players is easy to come by. What’s not so easy to come by is actionable fantasy information regarding injuries to non-skill position players. We’ll be exploring some of the NFL DFS Injuries and how they may help you gain an edge week to week.
Trent Williams – LT – WAS
Washington will be without starting left tackle, Trent Williams, for Sunday’s game against Atlanta. Williams has been dealing with a dislocated thumb and will be forced to miss this week.
Actionable Takeaway: This is a significant loss for the Washington offense as Williams has a PFF grade of 75.8, and is one of the better pass rush defenders. The entire Washington offense is severely banged up, so monitoring their status’ for Sunday will be important. I would downgrade the offense a bit with this news.
Tremaine Edmunds– LB – Bills
Bills rookie, Tremaine Edmunds, has been dealing with a concussion this week and has yet to be cleared from the concussion protocol. He did practice Thursday in a non-contact jersey, so it will be important to see the final injury report on Friday.
Actionable Takeaway: Edmunds hasn’t graded out well this season via PFF, but he has played every snap this year and the defense would still be downgraded if he were to miss this week. This should be a bit of a boost to the Chicago offense, who could be in control for most of the game. I would expect Howard to have a big day, as long as the game script goes according to plan.
Gerald McCoy – DL – Buccaneers
Gerald McCoy was able to return to practice in a limited capacity earlier this week, but was held out on Thursday. He has been battling a calf injury and his status for this week is very uncertain.
Actionable Takeaway: This is already a tremendous matchup for both offenses, but things would be even easier for Carolina if McCoy sat out. McCoy currently has a PFF grade of 73.3 and is known as one of the best run stuffers in the game. I wouldn’t expect Carolina’s plan of attack to come via the ground game, but it would certainly help if McCoy was absent.
