NBA FanDuel DFS Targets: Friday November 2nd
Welcome to this edition of NBA FanDuel DFS Targets from FantasyCPR.com. Here you will find players to target for tonight’s action, geared for cash games and tournament plays on FanDuel.
Welcome to today’s edition of my NBA FanDuel Targets for NBA DFS. First, I will go over players to target at each position for today’s eight-game slate, starting at our usual time of 7:00 PM ET. I will give two targets at each of the guard and forward positions, and one center. Following the picks, will be the ever popular “sample lineup” we like to do here at FantasyCPR. Some plays will be geared toward cash games, and some for GPP. Some of course will also technically qualify as both. As we break each play down, I will be sure to specify which type of contests I am targeting that player in.
With NBA FanDuel, I can’t stress enough how important it is to not just plug-and-play these sample lineups. There is so much info that will drop over the course of the day for NBA, and you never truly know what to expect. If you want to be a consistent winner for NBA, lock starts at 7PM ET on most week nights. Plan on being ready to tinker those lineups last second, accounting for all of that fabulous NBA news that nobody was expecting five minutes before, or even AFTER lock. It happens all of the time, so if you set your lineup now and forget it, it’s probably not going to work out for you in the long run.
What Happened Last Night?:
Well that was fun last night right? Anthony Davis gets the early downgrade to doubtful on the second leg of the back-to-back, then next thing I know, he is going through warm-up’s with the intent to play. I proceed to cuss the NBA for the next five or ten minutes, remembering why I quit NBA DFS late last season, only to find out he is in fact out, and my late changes to make Jrue Holiday fit in my lineups will still look like the right move.
I focused on the Sixers in yesterday’s article, and it didn’t turn out too bad. Joel Embiid was dominant as I expected, dropping 68.1 FDP. Simmons didn’t quite pay off his price tag with 35.1 FDP, and Dario Saric continued to disappoint with just 10.6 FDP. Robert Covington was able to make up for it however, as four steals and three blocks brought his total up to 41.4 FDP. All in all, over 150 on a four man team stack is a solid day if you put the right pieces around it.
What To Expect Tonight:
Tonight we have some expected close games according to the Vegas lines, mostly between teams in the bottom half of the standings in the early goings. We also have a couple that look like they won’t be close, and with the pace these teams in the expected blowouts play, I am seeing some fine fantasy targets.
One clear spot I am taking a long look at, is in Phoenix, where the Suns will host the 7-1 Raptors, who bounced back from their first defeat of the season at the hands of the Bucks, to easily defeat the 76ers at home 129-112. Kyle Lowry and Kawhi Leonard have been lights out together, and should have no problems racking up fantasy points in this one. The Suns could get sharpshooter Devin Booker back from his hamstring injury, which should instantly make them a better team, and keep this game closer than expected should he be able to give it a go.
With eight games, and sixteen teams in action, It’s looking like a good DFS start to the weekend! Let’s break it down a bit and check out who to target!
NBA FanDuel DFS: Point Guards:
Stephen Curry – Golden State Warriors – $10,700 – (GPP)
One of the best pure shooters on the planet, Curry and his Warriors will be at home tonight to square off with the Wolves. He is coming off of a 37 point, 9 assist game against the Pelicans, in which he was 12-20 from the floor, including 7-11 from 3-point land. I don’t think we need to pay up this high in cash games at this position, but Curry should make for a fine GPP play. He comes in $1000 less than Russell Westbrook who is on a back-to-back. While Westbrook has been pretty consistent at going over 50 FDP every night, Curry has at least been relatively close. For the discount, give me Curry, as I expect him to stay hot against the Timberwolves tonight.
Kyle Lowry – Toronto Raptors – $8,900 – (Cash)
For cash games tonight, It looks like the consistency of Lowry makes him my top play at the position. Lowry has hit double-digit assists in six straight games, and is scoring a bit more this year with no DeMar DeRozan in the picture. He has also been a machine, playing minutes in the mid to high 30’s night in and night out. The Raptors will clash with young Phoenix Suns tonight, and Lowry should easily once again double-double in points and assists. He has failed to eclipse 40 FDP just twice in eight games this year, and another night in the mid 40’s should be expected in this match-up. Despite the blowout potential, the Raptors are one of my favorite teams to target today.
***Value Plays: Tyus Jones $4,200 (If Teague Out!) – JJ Barea – $4,000 – Dante Exum $3,800 (Mitchell IS Out)***
NBA FanDuel DFS: Shooting Guards:
Victor Oladipo – Indiana Pacers – $9,000 – (Cash)
A really thin position tonight despite eight games, shooting guard is not usually a spot where I will spend up, especially in cash games. However, Oladipo is in a smash spot here against the Bulls, as he should be able to carve this team up if he gets hot. He is still looking for his first monster game of the season, as his highest FDP total on the season is just 46.9 against Brooklyn back in the third game of the season. Consistency is key for cash games though, and while he hasn’t had the huge game yet, he is yet to really have a dud either. I expect him somewhere in the mid-40’s for FDP once again, and it will take some injury news or something of that matter to find a pivot. For now, Oladipo is locked in as my top cash play at the position.
Garrett Temple – Memphis Grizzlies – $4,300 – (GPP/Punt)
The Grizz are running quite a bit of three guard sets as of late, and Temple is quietly getting a ton of minutes. He is also quietly shooting above 50% from 3-point land, and averaging 14.3 PPG. In fact, on Tuesday Temple took 13 shots and scored 20 points in 35 minutes of action. While I write “GPP/Punt” here, I am saying that only in relation to the price. Look we know we need to roster a couple of guys under $4,500 or so in every format every night to fit our studs. In this spot, we get a veteran playing well with his new team, facing a Jazz team coming off of a tough loss to Minnesota, and without their top shooter in Donovan Mitchell. At this price, we only need around 25 FDP. If Temple continues to play 30+ minutes which he should, he should make value.
***Value Plays: Klay Thompson $6,500 – Dennis Schroder – $5,100***
NBA FanDuel DFS: Small Forwards:
Kawhi Leonard – Toronto Raptors – $10,300 – (Cash)
We learned Leonard is playing not quite at 100% still, as it was announced that he will still be sitting at least one contest in back-to-backs at this point. Therefore, whenever Leonard and the Raptors are in action, it might be wise to look ahead to the next day to see if you need to be prepared for some news that he may rest. The salary is getting up there, and most may actually pay $400 more for Kevin Durant at this point, but I am not sure that is the correct play.
Sure we have to worry about a blowout here, but Kawhi could easily post cash game numbers in three quarters tonight. He is averaging 53.9 FDP over the last three games, and is running much hotter than Durant right now. I would save the Durant and Curry stack for GPP’s today. The Raptors are off tomorrow, and will deal with the back-to-back on Sunday and Monday, so load up Leonard with confidence today.
Kevin Durant – Golden State Warriors – $10,700 – (GPP)
The salary on Durant and Curry will likely always be under $11K, because they almost can cancel each other out some nights, and prevent the other from having a ceiling game. But, the Warriors do score like 130-140 points a night, so expecting a 50+ FDP game from Durant every night is not a stretch. He is still one of the best players on the planet, but kind of took a backseat the last two games, while Curry and Klay Thompson shot the lights out.
While Curry and Klay were having all the fun, Durant still managed 46 FDP in 40 minutes against the Pelicans on Wednesday. It’s been a couple games since he hit the 50 FDP mark, but he did just that in the three previous games to the guards heating up. Against Brooklyn, New York, and Washington last week Durant averaged 55 FDP per game. It will be interesting to see how Golden State attacks Minnesota tonight, and I will have some Durant and Curry without a doubt.
***Value Plays: Kelly Oubre Jr. $4,300***
NBA FanDuel DFS: Power Forwards:
Wendell Carter Jr. – Chicago Bulls – $7,200 – (GPP)
Pretty brutal position today and certainly a place to spend down in cash games. For tournament play however, I will likely be taking a flyer on Carter Jr today, as the Bulls remain thin in the frontcourt. Carter Jr. was given huge run against the Nuggets in the form of 37 minutes, and had the best game of his young career. If the Bulls are set to unleash him, and he plays like he just did on Halloween against Denver, he is going to be a steal until he is over $8K or so. The all-around game is impressive, and Carter Jr. is a guy who can pick up some extra FDP’s for you with steals and blocks as well. The Bulls get the Pacers at home tonight, and Carter Jr will be looking to build off that 25 point, 8 rebound, 59.1 FDP performance.
Pascal Siakam – Toronto Raptors – $5,700 – (Cash)
Either the presence of Leonard just makes everyone on the Raptors that much better, or Siakam has been better than Serge Ibaka all along. I am not sure what is really going with this one, but even though his salary got a healthy bump of nearly $1000, the fact that he has dropped back-to-back 40+ FDP games means this price is still a bit too low. Honestly, considering the match-up here with the Suns, I will not be surprised at all if Siakam can eclipse the 40+ FDP mark once again. He isn’t the cheap GPP punt he was a few days ago. Today he is a stone cold cash lock in my opinion considering this position is again pretty awful today.
***Value Plays: Jerami Grant $4,900 – Josh Jackson $3,600 (If Booker Out!)***
NBA FanDuel DFS: Center Targets:
Clint Capela – Houston Rockets – $8,400 – (Cash)
Well word on the street is that James Harden got in a light workout on Thursday, and has actually been upgraded to doubtful for this one in Brooklyn against the Nets. However, his return will likely come on Saturday, on the heels of a back-to-back. That gives us one more game to expect more from Capela offensively. While he hasn’t been really picking it up in Harden’s absence, centers against the Nets is still a thing, and Capela should eat in this match-up if he is fed. He slots in as a nice cash play for me with an expectation of 40+ FDP.
***Value Plays: Dwight Howard $6,200 – Jonas Valanciunas $5,800***
