In the wake of the tragic death of their beloved owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four others last Saturday in a helicopter accident, a Leicester side still in mourning will take the field in Premier League action against Cardiff.
The decision to play the match against Cardiff was left to the club who voted to play the match in Srivaddhanaprabha’s honor. There will be a minute’s silence before kickoff and players will be wearing black armbands in honor of the Leicester owner and four others who perished last weekend.
The Foxes come into Saturday’s match sitting in 12th place in the Premier League table and Claude Puel’s men will look to play an inspired match and will seek to pay a proper tribute to their fallen leader by taking all three points from the Bluebirds.
Cardiff come into Saturday’s match off a 4-1 thumping at Liverpool last weekend. The Bluebirds currently sit 17th in the Premier League table, just one spot above the relegation zone on goal difference.
Neil Warnock’s team will need to find a way to tighten up at the back having yielded 23 goals in only ten matches, which makes the Bluebirds the second-worst defense in the Premier League to date.
Goals have not come easy for Cardiff either. The Bluebirds have only scored nine goals in ten matches and have been shut out in five of them.
The last meeting between the Bluebirds and the Foxes ended 1-1 back in March 2013 when both clubs were in the Championship.
