Welcome to this edition of NBA FanDuel DFS Targets from FantasyCPR.com. Here you will find players to target for tonight’s action, geared for cash games and tournament plays on FanDuel.

Welcome to the Saturday edition of my NBA FanDuel Targets for NBA DFS. First, I will go over players to target at each position for tonight’s seven-game slate, starting at our usual time of 7:00 PM ET. I will give two targets at each of the guard and forward positions, and one center. Following the picks, will be the ever popular “sample lineup” we like to do here at FantasyCPR.  Some plays will be geared toward cash games, and some for GPP. Some of course will also technically qualify as both. As we break each play down, I will be sure to specify which type of contests I am targeting that player in.

With NBA on FanDuel, I can’t stress enough how important it is to not just plug-and-play these sample lineups. There is so much info that will drop over the course of the day for NBA, and you never truly know what to expect. If you want to be a consistent winner for NBA, lock starts at 7PM ET on most week nights. Plan on being ready to tinker those lineups last second, accounting for all of that fabulous NBA news that nobody was expecting five minutes before, or even AFTER lock. It happens all of the time, so if you set your lineup now and forget it, it’s probably not going to work out for you in the long run.

What Happened Last Night?:

Boban happened. That is only place to start. How can you not be a fan of this guy? The giant got his first start as a Clipper, and once that news was announced it was time to pivot off of Capela in cash games for me. I actually decided to swap off of Victor Oladipo as well, and pay up for Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard at SF. Boban at $3,600 and locked into starters minutes, and pivoting down to Dennis Schroder made this all possible. Marjanovic double-doubled in 22 minutes with 10 points and 11 rebounds, and posted a modest 24.2 FDP for $100 more than minumum price. Late games are still in progress and I put this piece together, and most of my targets are just getting underway. I was going to skip this paragraph entirely today, but seriously… Who doesn’t love a little Boban?

What To Expect Tonight:

As always on the weekends, we can expect to see some sloppy basketball in some games, and some blowouts in others. We have 14 teams in action, and four of those teams are on the second leg of a back-to-back. Indiana, Houston, Chicago, and Utah all could have some tired legs, and we could also see some veterans get some rest. One veteran who will not be resting, and looks set to make his return, is Houston All-Star James Harden.

The Rockets have been reeling as they are off to a 1-6 start, and are losing to the Nets in Brooklyn at half-time at this moment. Unless they are super cheap, I am not one to roster stud outside shooters returning from injury. Therefore, I will pass on Harden tonight, and wait to see how he looks. My guess is he will certainly have some rust to shake off, much like Russell Westbrook did after a short absence.

One more thing to watch before we get into today’s targets is whether or not Anthony Davis will return to action. My guess is yes, but he is still listed as questionable, with more news to come after morning shoot-around. Davis sat the second leg of a back-to-back on Friday, but was making it clear to training staff and coaches that he was ready go. With the fragility of Davis, I can’t say I blame for using some caution, but I hope this isn’t a sign they will make a habit of giving him a day off on back-to-backs. The Pelicans will clash with Spurs in San Antonio, and will likely need a dominant AD performance to pick up a win.

NBA FanDuel DFS: Point Guards:

Damian Lillard – Portland Trail Blazers – $9,700 – (Cash/GPP)

Even with Westbrook and Davis on the slate, Lillard could easily shoot the lights out in this one and outscore them, as the Blazers will host the 3-5 Lakers. After a couple of rough games on the east coast road trip against the Pacers and Rockets, Lillard and the Blazers returned home to Portland, where they lit up the Pelicans winning 132-119. Dame bounced back from the shooting woes on the road to hit 4-7 from three-point land to total 26 points, while adding seven boards and six assists. That was good for 42.4 FDP. He has also already faced the Lakers once this season in the opener, and put up 44.2 FDP in that game. A solid floor of 40+ and a legit 65 FDP ceiling put Lillard in play in all formats.

Kemba Walker – Charlotte Hornets – $9,300 – (Cash/GPP)

Walker has come down to earth a bit the last couple games, averaging around just 36 FDP per game in those two, but I am not quite ready to jump off of this train quite yet. Kemba started off the season sizzling, with two 50 FDP games and one in the 60’s. My guess is recency bias will keep his ownership down in both formats though, considering the last couple average games. Walker has historically been a better shooter at home, although it hasn’t mattered much this season to this point. Tonight the Hornets will face the Cavaliers in Charlotte, and although the Cavs are playing decent considering what they are working with, Walker should be able to put together a nice line tonight. I am paying up at point guard today, but if I was picking Walker or Lillard, Lillard would get the edge by a nose.

***Value Plays: Dante Exum $3,800  (If Mitchell is out!) – Tim Frazier $3,600 (Payton is OUT!)***

NBA FanDuel DFS: Shooting Guards:

DeMar DeRozan – San Antonio Spurs – $9,900 – (Cash/GPP)

DeRozan has turned out to be fantastic for the Spurs, and it is actually nice to see San Antonio fantasy relevant once again. With Rudy Gay and LaMarcus Aldridge as well, this team is playing strong with it’s new core of veterans. It’s been big minutes and huge games for DeRozan to this point, and how he hasn’t quite cracked the $10K mark in salary this season seems odd. In seven games, DeRozan has put up 60+ FDP three times. The 5-2 Spurs will clash with the slumping Pelicans at home, and with the Pelicans still likely down a piece or two, this could be another huge game for DeRozan.

Jrue Holiday – New Orleans Pelicans – $8,500 – (Cash)

Like I just mentioned, we already know the Pelicans will still be without Elfrid Payton at the very least, who as already been ruled out. We know Holiday gets a huge usage bump with AD out, but he has also been very consistent with Elf on the shelf. That was awesome and I didn’t even try to do it. He has gone over 40 FDP in four of the last five games, and dropped 28 points with nine assists against Golden State on Halloween for 47.1 FDP. If Davis does not play again this is a lock again without a doubt, but all signs are pointing to AD being on the court tonight.

***Value Plays: Dwayne Wade $4,700 – Malik Monk $4,400***

NBA FanDuel DFS: Small Forwards:

LeBron James – Los Angeles Lakers – $12,000 – (Cash/GPP)

If was paying up for a stud today in cash games it would have to be James here tonight. This match-up with the Blazers tonight should be a high-scoring battle like we are accustomed to seeing quite a bit of this year, as the Vegas total stands at 236.5 at the moment. While the Lakers are still trying to put it all together and find a solid rhythm, James no doubt looks comfortable, as he is averaging almost 55 FDP per game.

I have no problem building a cash team around him, but this looks a day for more balance to me, as I am struggling to find some great value. For what it’s worth, James was just OK in the opener against Portland in his first game with his new team, but I can’t really put much into one game. He did have 26 points and 12 rebounds in that game so not like it was bad, but six turnovers curbed his DFS total to “just” 46.4 FDP. I think the price is just right on James and we should right around that average of 55 FDP, making him viable in all formats as always.

Rudy Gay – San Antonio Spurs – $6,800 – (Cash)

If you want to take a more balanced approach in your cash games today which is usually the correct way to go, Gay comes in as a consistent option. When the situation calls for it, the veteran Gay will get his rest, and will also play limited minutes here and there, which brings some risk. Make sure you don’t get “Popped” here, and confirm he is in the lineup before locking him in. Gay played big minutes against the Lakers and Mavericks, scoring 44.5 and 45.2 FDP in those games. That was then followed by him playing just 22 minutes against the Suns on Halloween, and failing to break 20 FDP. My hope is the Pelicans keep this close, and Gay approaches 40 minutes once again considering he should be fresh.

***Value Plays: E’Twaun Moore $4,800 – Sam Dekker $4,500***

NBA FanDuel DFS: Power Forwards:

Anthony Davis – New Orleans Pelicans – $12,200 – (GPP)

He wanted to give it a go in Portland after being doubtful all day, but the trainers deemed him out in the pre-game warm-ups. Just that fact that we know this isn’t him this time is promising in itself. Davis misses so much time, that if he wants to be out there the Pelicans should abide, but I guess I understand the part about protecting the franchise as well. Either way, my guess is AD plays tonight in San Antonio against the Spurs, and they will likely need him to keep this one close. I have no idea what to expect here, so I can’t play Davis in cash games, but once we get the word he is playing I will likely build a GPP around him. If it isn’t too late of course.

Al-Farouq Aminu – Portland Trail Blazers – $5,000 – (Cash)

Aminu is a streaky player, who doesn’t contribute a whole lot on the offensive end, largely because he is probably the fourth or fifth scoring option for Portland. He does play hard, play big minutes, and is a solid rebounder and defender, who can pick you up FDP points in many different ways. He is coming off a solid game, which should make him popular in cash games while people scramble to find the value to pay up for the studs. Aminu is coming off of a double-double against New Orleans, in which he scored 17 points and added 10 rebounds. This will likely be one of the more popular game stacks in GPP today, so I would prefer the pivot down to Zach Collins for tournaments.

***Value Plays: Trey Lyles $4,900 – Zach Collins $4,800***

NBA FanDuel DFS: Center Targets:

JaVale McGee – Los Angeles Lakers – $7,600 – (Cash/GPP)

What a story McGee has been. Given the first opportunity of his career to start and play big minutes, McGee is exceeding expectations by quite a bit. Even the folks who set the pricing at FanDuel are still a bit confused, considering Nikola Jokic still sits above $10K after failing to hit 20 FDP his last game.

More from FanSided

Meanwhile, all McGee has done, is average 37.4 FDP per game on the season, failing to go over 30 just once this season. On top of that, he is coming off of a monster outing which was his best of the season to this point. In battle with DeAndre Jordan and the Mavericks on Halloween, McGee posted 16 points and 15 rebounds, while adding five blocks and two steals.

***Value Play: Willy Hernangomez $3,900 – (Punt)***
