NFL DFS Bargain Bin- Week 9 (Sun.-Mon.)

Welcome to the Week 9 edition of the NFL DFS Bargain Bin, where the goal is to provide a general overview of the ledger and touch on where there may be some mis-priced players across Yahoo, FanDuel, DraftKings and FantasyDraft in favorable Fantasy Football match-ups.

Before we go NFL DFS Bargain Bin hunting, a few particulars about format and content:

  • The nature of the beast with value plays is at least a modest amount (and sometimes substantially more) of risk. After all, these players are usually priced where they are for a reason. Therefore, the Bargain Bin may prove to be a bit more of a rollercoaster ride on some slates than your typical “tout” article!
  • Naturally, that doesn’t mean there isn’t upside to be had. All of these selections are therefore suitable for GPPs (and usually avoidable for cash games), and they can often help you accommodate multiple higher-priced studs into your lineup.
  • Typically, I’ll suggest players that are value-priced across all four major DFS sites (Yahoo, FanDuel, DraftKings and FantasyDraft).  However, there are certainly occasions where one or more site prices a player significantly lower than others. Whenever possible, I’ll typically at least note those players as a “XYZ site(s) special”.
  • These players are but a sampling of who I feel are some of the best values at each position that week. However, with so many skills players in the NFL, there are certainly others worth considering, especially as late-breaking injury news comes out Sunday morning. Therefore, feel free to utilize this piece as a good guide for where some of the most prominent value lies, but not as an exhaustive list.
  • The goal is to recommend truly affordable players, as opposed to, say, a player priced just $300-$400 away from the highest-priced option at his position. I don’t have set-in-stone price limits in mind for each site, but I do consider legitimate affordability a very important criteria.

With those housekeeping items out-of-the-way, I’ll give you my thoughts on where there may be some value spots to exploit on the Week 9 slates!

NFL DFS Bargain Bin- Week 9 Quarterbacks (Sun.-Mon.)

Alex Smith, WAS vs. ATL– Yahoo ($29)/ FanDuel ($7,500)/ DraftKings ($5,000)/ FantasyDraft ($10,000)

Smith is especially priced to move on DraftKings and FantasyDraft, but his price is affordable across all four sites. He draws a tantalizing matchup versus a Falcons team that’s allowed a 17:6 TD:INT to opposing signal callers, along with 318.4 passing yards per contest and a bottom-10 figure in yards after the catch (1,118). What’s more, Atlanta is allowing a robust 5.9 yards per rush and a pair of touchdowns on 25 carries to quarterbacks, certainly a factor when considering a mobile player such as Smith.

Case Keenum, DEN vs. HOU– Yahoo ($27)/ FanDuel ($6,800)/ DraftKings ($4,900)/ FantasyDraft ($10,000)

Keenum has had his fair share of issues with interceptions, but the Broncos have been involved in quite a few high-scoring affairs due to some breakdowns on defense, which has led to some strong passing totals for him. The offseason acquisition has thrown a pair of touchdown passes apiece in three of his past four games and already has a trio of 300-yard passing games to his credit. He’ll face a Texans defense that’s had some trouble versus the deep ball this season and that’s allowed 15 touchdown passes overall. Two of Keenum’s aforementioned 300-yard passing days have also come at home, furthering his case in a game that should have some back-and-forth to it.

ALSO CONSIDER:

Deshaun Watson, HOU at DEN– Yahoo ($24)/ FanDuel ($7,900)/ DraftKings ($6,300)/ FantasyDraft ($11,900)

Dak Prescott, DAL vs. TEN– Yahoo ($24)/ FanDuel ($7,000)/ DraftKings ($5,100)/ FantasyDraft ($11,000)

NFL DFS Bargain Bin- Week 9 Running Backs (Sun.-Mon.)

Adrian Peterson, WAS vs. ATL– Yahoo ($25)/ FanDuel ($7,500)/ DraftKings ($6,000)/ FantasyDraft ($11,300)

There were certainly some skeptics early in the season, but Peterson has likely made a believer out of most of them at this point. The future Hall of Famer has defied the odds to put together an excellent comeback campaign thus far, and with backfield mate Chris Thompson already scratched for Sunday’s contest with a rib injury, Peterson should once again have a monopoly on rushing work. He’ll face an Atlanta defense allowing 4.3 yards per rush and seven rushing touchdowns to running backs, along with the most DraftKings (37.2) and FanDuel (31.2) points to the position per contest. Peterson already has a pair of 100-yard efforts and has another three games with between 96 and 99 yards on the ground, making him worthwhile in cash games or tournaments.

Isaiah Crowell, NYJ at MIA– Yahoo ($18)/ FanDuel ($5,700)/ DraftKings ($4,200)/ FantasyDraft ($9500)

Crowell will likely be off the radar in tournaments for many, considering he’s turned in three lackluster performances. However, the pricing and the matchup line up for him nicely in Week 9. The Dolphins have been highly vulnerable to the run all season, yielding 4.6 yards per carry and seven rushing touchdowns overall. What’s more, they also rank in the bottom half of the league in receptions (47), receiving yards (421) and receiving touchdowns (three) allowed to running backs. Crowell flashed his upside with a 219-yard explosion versus the Broncos earlier this season, and in what will be ideal South Florida weather Sunday, he has a chance to provide a handsome return on a minimal price.

ALSO CONSIDER:

Tarik Cohen, CHI at BUF– Yahoo ($17)/ FanDuel ($7,200)/ DraftKings ($6,200)/ FantasyDraft ($12,600)

Aaron Jones, GB at NE– Yahoo ($17)/ FanDuel ($5,800)/ DraftKings ($4,400)/ FantasyDraft ($9,400)

NFL DFS Bargain Bin- Week 9 Wide Receivers (Sun.-Mon.)

Jarvis Landry, CLE vs. KC– Yahoo ($23)/ FanDuel ($6,600)/ DraftKings ($6,500)/ FantasyDraft ($12,300)

We’ll have to see what this past week’s coaching changes in Cleveland bring to the offense, but Landry figures to remain a pivotal figure in the air attack regardless of who’s calling plays. The former Dolphin has seen double-digit targets in all but one game this season, ranking second in the NFL only to Adam Thielen with 95 looks overall. Moreover, he has at least five catches in six of eight contests. Cleveland figures to have to remain aggressive to have any chance of keeping up with Patrick Mahomes and company Sunday, which should set up beautifully for Landry. The fact KC is allowing 39.3 DraftKings points and 30.9 FanDuel points per game to receivers certainly helps Landry’s cause as well, as does the league-high 3,094 air yards and second-most yards after the catch (1,241) they’ve yielded overall.

DeVante Parker, MIA vs. NYJ– Yahoo ($15)/ FanDuel ($5,800)/ DraftKings ($4,600)/ FantasyDraft ($9,100)

Parker could well find himself as the clear-cut No. 1 receiver again Sunday with Kenny Stills highly questionable with a groin injury. The Jets could be willing facilitators to another strong day for the beleaguered 2015 No. 1 pick, who racked up 134 yards against the Texans in Week 8. New York is still dealing with multiple injuries to their secondary and sports a bottom-10 ranking in air yards (2,481) and passing touchdowns (15) allowed. They’ve given up 10 of those scores to receivers and are allowing the third-most DraftKings (45.6) and fifth-most FanDuel (35.2) points to wideouts overall, making Parker one of the strongest mid-tier plays at receiver, especially if Stills is held out.

ALSO CONSIDER:

Kenny Golladay, DET at MIN– Yahoo ($18)/ FanDuel ($6,200)/ DraftKings ($5,500)/ FantasyDraft ($10,400)

Courtland Sutton, DEN vs. HOU– Yahoo ($13)/ FanDuel ($5,500)/ DraftKings ($3,900)/ FantasyDraft ($7,700)

NFL DFS Bargain Bin- Week 9 Tight Ends/Team Defense (Sun.-Mon.)

Tight Ends

Benjamin Watson, NO vs. LAR– Yahoo ($15)/ FanDuel ($5,400)/ DraftKings ($3,200)/ FantasyDraft ($6,300)

Watson always seems go a bit under the radar, but the savvy veteran knows how to work in synergy with Drew Brees. This is a game where the Saints are naturally expected to remain highly aggressive versus the high-powered Rams, which could spell a good deal of work for Watson at a bargain price. Before Brees’ atypical 120-yard passing performance versus the Vikings last week — a game where Watson wasn’t targeted — the veteran had been consistently involved this season, logging between four and six targets in five of his first six games. The Rams have allowed an elevated 13.7 yards per reception to tight ends, while Watson already has three catches of over 20 yards and six red-zone targets this season.

More from FanSided

Vance McDonald, PIT at BAL– Yahoo ($15)/ FanDuel ($5,300)/ DraftKings ($3,700)/ FantasyDraft ($7,400)

Speaking of tight ends that can get downfield, McDonald has often been like an extra receiver this season, averaging a 14.0 yards per reception and a career-high 11.9 yards per target. The speedy veteran is in a good spot against a Ravens defense that often funnels action toward the middle due to their strong perimeter coverage. Baltimore has allowed the fifth-most catches (44) to tight ends, along with the eighth-most receiving yards (510) to the position. McDonald already put together a solid 5-62 line versus the Ravens in this season’s earlier meeting, and he’s logged multiple catches in five of the six games he’s played overall.

Team Defense

Dallas Cowboys (vs. Tennessee Titans)– Yahoo ($12)/ FanDuel ($4,200)/ DraftKings ($2,900)/ FantasyDraft ($5,500)

The Titans have had their moments in a couple of games, but they remain one of the more pedestrian offenses in the league. Tennessee ranks next-to-last with 280.9 yards per game, and they’re averaging the third-lowest points per game (15.1). They’ve been equally bad through the air and on the ground, averaging the second-lowest pass yards per contest (173) and ranking in the bottom half of the league with 107.9 rush yards per game. Moreover, they’re tied with several teams for eighth-most sacks allowed (22), while the Cowboys have already taken the quarterback down 19 times. Dallas also ranks as the second-stingiest pass defense (217.0 pass yards per game allowed), ninth-toughest against the run (96.3 yards per game), and they’re yielding the second-lowest yards per carry (3.6). All of those numbers imply that it will likely be a tough night at the office for the Titans in a Monday night road matchup.
