Valencia have conceded just eight league goals in La Liga so far, a figure bettered only by Real Valladolid and Atletico Madrid, but they also have the second-worst scoring record in the Spanish top flight. Given that the squad includes such proven talents as Michy Batshuayi, Kevin Gameiro, Rodrigo and Santi Mina, it seems unthinkable that they’ll continue to miss chances with such regularity for the rest of the season. While Valencia haven’t lost in the league since August, they’ve become La Liga’s draw specialists during that period, with eight of their 10 league games ending even, although that has included ties against Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

Pablo Machin, the coach who oversaw both Girona’s ascent into Spain’s top division for the first time and an impressive debut La Liga season in which they finished tenth – departed in the summer for Sevilla, where he’s again proving to be a success. Under his replacement, ex-Real Sociedad boss Eusebio Sacristan, the club have managed to retain that mid-table position. After scoring 21 times in the league last season – putting him fifth in the final overall standings, behind only Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Iago Aspas and fellow Uruguayan Luis Suarez – striker Cristhian Stuani has again been Girona’s star performer in this campaign, with eight La Liga goals already.
