West Ham vs. Burnley live stream: Watch Premier League online
By Warren Pegg
West Ham face Burnley at the London Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 3. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
After West Ham lost their first four league games of the season, Manuel Pellegrini stressed the importance of improving his side’s defensive work. Convincing victories over Manchester United and Everton followed, as well a draw with Chelsea, but now the team’s issues are at the other end of the pitch. Last season’s top scorer Marko Arnautovic has again led the way with four goals and an assist in the league. So his absence due to knee problems has been acutely felt, with record signing Felipe Anderson yet to find form, Javier Hernandez continuing to misfire, and Manuel Lanzini, Andriy Yarmolenko and Andy Carroll already injured.
All of the advanced metrics indicated that last season’s seventh-place finish flattered Burnley enormously, so their difficulties during this campaign have surprised few. While only Brighton have taken fewer shots per game in Europe’s top five leagues and just one team, Parma, have seen opponents have more attempts on goal, that might not concern coach Sean Dyche too much because Burnley were actually posting similar numbers last season as well.
Dyche nonetheless has reasons to worry. Firstly, his team have already conceded 21 goals in just 10 games after only letting in 39 over the course of the whole of last season. Secondly, they’ve performed badly against the other teams at the bottom of the table, even if they did end up coming away with lucky points against Cardiff and Huddersfield. And finally, those same advanced metrics indicate that Burnley’s present 15th position is again very flattering indeed, which means that their current predicament certainly isn’t down to bad luck.

Given that only two EPL teams have conceded more goals than Burnley, this fixture seems to present a good opportunity for West Ham to end their attacking woes.
