NFL DFS: Week 9 FanDuel Cash Plays (1PM Only)
Got your Week 9 FanDuel NFL DFS lineups all set and looking for a good reason to avoid tinkering with them? Make some more lineups on some smaller slates!! This article will focus on the top cash game plays for the 1PM only slate on Fanduel.
Welcome to the week nine edition of NFL DFS FanDuel Cash Plays for the early slate from FantasyCPR. This piece will give us a solid look at how to attack our cash games for the seven-game, 1PM only slate on FanDuel.
For the newbies, cash games are simply the games in the lobby that are 50/50 or close to that to win. These are basically all of the games other than the tournaments and guaranteed prize pool tournaments (GPP’s). Head-to-Head’s (H2H), 50/50, and double-ups would best summarize cash games.
Let’s continue by saying this, if you don’t like chalk, these slates are not for you. This article highlights who the top options are in my opinion, and whether they are popular plays or not is not any of my concern. I am just trying to give you a good starting point and a few plays to build around. With that said, let’s move along and see how the week seven sample lineup played out.
Week 8 Recap:
I am a big fan of transparency, and I will be the first to admit I do not always get them right. But I think if you appreciate the conclusions I come to by you doing further research yourself, then I know you will be back for another read. Again, I am always here to help so reach out to me on Twitter, and that sample lineup is just a SAMPLE cash lineup. Regardless, I will play it every week, and we will track it right here!
QB – Patrick Mahomes $9,200
RB – Kareem Hunt $8,100
RB – James Conner – $8,000
WR – Tyler Boyd – $6,800
WR – Chris Godwin – $6,300
WR – Marvin Jones Jr – $6,000
TE – CJ Uzomah – $5,400
FLEX – Phillip Lindsay – $6,500
DEF – Baltimore Ravens – $3,700
Well after two bad weeks for the “sample lineup” missing out on cash, quite a few readers did not return for this week’s article. That is unfortunate for them and I hope they make it back this week, because I was able to right the ship with that gem above that dropped 152.02 FDP, and easily cashed in all formats. Even though there were a couple of huge misses, this lineup was still in the top 10% of all of the large field GPP tournaments.
A low owned Marvin Jones Jr. pivot off of chalk Kenny Golladay turned out to be the main difference, but getting the touchdowns from the guys that were chalk like Boyd and Hunt also certainly helped the bottom line. Uzomah was a miss, as was the Ravens defense. What hurt worse about Uzomah, was that he was not as highly owned as I thought he would be, as he sat right at around 30% in my 50/50’s. All in all, I was able to double my money on this slate with this sample lineup, and I have been in the lab all week looking to top that this week!
NFL DFS: Week 9 FanDuel Cash Plays (1PM Only)
QB – Cam Newton – Carolina Panthers – $8,600
Yeah yeah, pay down at QB in cash games. Nope not me. Paying up for Mahomes worked just fine last week, and some solid value at the running back position has me salivating at rostering Newton in cash games this week. In fact, with the Panthers hosting the Buccaneers this Sunday, I will make sure to have my full allotment. Starting right here.
Newton has been solid the last three weeks, splitting a win and loss with good teams in the Eagles and Redskins on the road, and was even better last week at home against another solid defense in the Baltimore Ravens. In that home game, Newton threw for two touchdowns and added one on the ground for 27.96 FDP and his third straight week over 24 FDP. I am excited to see what he will to do the 31st ranked against the pass defense in the Bucs at home this week, and I see no reason to risk going too cheap at QB.

RB – Kareem Hunt – Kansas City Chiefs – $8,500
The Hunt and Mahomes show continues for the Chiefs, as they will head into The “Land” to take on the Dawg Pound and the Browns. Kansas are huge 10 point favorites on the road, and I look for Hunt to rack up yards in the second half while the Chiefs nurse a nice lead. The first few weeks of the season, it seemed Andy Reid was holding Hunt back a little bit, limiting his touches, but really has been nothing short of a lock over the last six weeks.
In that span, he has scored nine touchdowns, with five coming on the ground, and four in the air. Also in that span, he is averaging an incredible 22.67 FDP per game. At less than $9K against the 28th ranked defense in an expected blowout is a steal in my opinion, as we should see plenty of Hunt in the second half.
RB – Christian McCaffrey – Carolina Panthers – $7,900
I have a feeling he is going to be chalky at under $8K in this match-up, but the chances he sees 20-25 touches here and breaks at least one is at least pretty good. This is a great match-up for sure, but the lack of touchdowns and the fact that Newton is always the likely candidate to score from the goal-line has me exercising some caution. Touchdowns are big on FanDuel, and when you look at the discounts on a couple of guys like Latavius Murray and Nick Chubb, you can certainly make an argument to pass on McCaffrey this week. This is potential chalk I don’t think I want to eat this week, but I am still undecided on that one. Hunt is my lock, and I will definitely use some combination of CMC and the three other options below as my RB2 and my Flex.
***Also Consider or FLEX: James Conner $8,000 – Nick Chubb $6,600***

WR – Adam Thielen – Minnesota Vikings – $8,900
Well this is the dilemma for me this week, and with my affinity towards Thielen and the Vikings, I cannot believe I am having such a hard time with this. I think the price is very fair, a bargain in fact, but whether or not I am able to roster him in cash is undetermined. It will come down to which running backs I go with, but if I decide to pay down to Chubb, I will likely be able to spend up for Thielen. When you look at the big picture, the floor on Thielen is incredibly safe for cash games at this price, so if you can determine which value backs can get the job done, he can be a great play. If you spend down a bit at QB, which I personally do not want to do this week, Thielen becomes a lock.
WR – Kenny Golladay – Detroit Lions – $6,200
Well it is definitely Golladay time for the Lions, as number one wideout Golden Tate was shipped out of Detroit for a third round draft pick. It will be a tough task for the Lions this week as they will face the Vikings, but word is Minnesota All-Pro cornerback Xavier Rhodes had a setback at practice, and is likely out for this game. That will leave some holes in the Vikings secondary, and if the Lions get behind, they will be airing it out no doubt. Last week I chose Marvin Jones Jr. in this spot when everyone else was on Golladay. This week I am opposite again, as Jones Jr. is being touted as the better as target. Chances are good both end up as fine plays this week with Tate out of the picture.
WR – D.J. Moore – Carolina Panthers – $5,300
As you can see, I really want to load up on these Panthers. An injury to veteran Torrey Smith gave the rookie a chance at a larger role last week against the tough Ravens defense, and Moore was able to grab five balls for 90 yards. This week we know it should be much easier against the Buccaneers defense, and with Smith already ruled out for this one, Moore will get another start. This is not my favorite team to target receivers from that is for sure, but with this situation and match-up, I am not sure a see a better value anywhere on the slate.
***Also Consider or FLEX: Mike Evans $7,900 – Michael Crabtree $6,300***

TE – Greg Olsen – Carolina Panthers – $6,200
MOAR Panthers!! Yeah you get it now. I am really picking on Tampa this week. Truthfully, the fact that Olsen is back from injury and has looked to be pretty close to 100% these last few weeks is one of the main reasons I am targeting this team so heavy this week. Yeah I love Newton in this match-up, but if you only play two Panthers, make sure the other one is right here with Olsen. He has played in three straight games now with a bad foot, and has caught ten balls with two touchdowns along the way. This Bucs defense has given up four touchdowns to tight ends this season, so I am banking on Olsen getting the looks when the Panthers get close.
***Also Consider: David Njoku – $5,200***
DEF – Buffalo Bills – $3,000
I hate doing this, but the Bears are just too expensive this week at $5,400, and other than maybe than Panthers (of course) at $4,300, I just do not see a defense worth paying up for. In actuality, I would have the Panthers defense here, but you can only roster a max of four players per team on FanDuel, and I am already there with Newton, Olsen, Moore, and McCaffrey. So I guess it is punt the defense week on this slate, and why not take a surprisingly decent defense in Buffalo, in a game they could win at home against the Chicago Bears. The last couple weeks against the Colts and the Patriots have been rough for this D, but they have scored double-digit FDP three times in seven games. Saving these extra salary dollars by going way down to $3K helps us spend up elsewhere, and that could make a big difference this week.
