Tight end: Jordan Reed, Washington Redskins – $5,600

After getting demolished by the New Orleans Saints in Week 4, the Washington Redskins have rattled off three consecutive wins. The resurgence of veteran running back Adrian Peterson has a lot to do with Washington’s success, but Reed’s ability to stay healthy and be on the field has been important.

Reed has already played in seven games this season, one more game than all of last season. He currently leads the team in targets (47), receptions (29) and receiving yards (306). His 47 targets is eighth amongst the position group.

In last week’s victory over the New York Giants, he was the only player with more than five targets (12). He led the team with with a season high seven receptions. In addition he played in a season high 53 plays, 77.9 percent of the offensive snaps.

Reed hasn’t recorded a touchdown since week one and only has two games in which he recorded at least 50 receiving yards, but don’t let that scare you away.

This week, Reed has a perfect opportunity for a breakout game against the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta has done a solid job all year against tight ends. The Falcons and 10 other teams have all allowed three touchdowns to the position group

But, Atlanta has had their struggles against receivers. Even though Reed is a tight end, he plays the role of a receiver in Washington’s offense.

Atlanta has given up 11 touchdowns to receivers, tied for the third most in the league. They have allowed the 10th most fantasy points to receivers.

He is the seventh most expensive tight end in Week 9 and is in the same tier as Chris Herndon ($5,400), Benajmin Watson ($5,400) and Vance McDonald ($5,300). He has more upside than all three of those players and is worth having in your lineup.
