PSG become the first team in Europe’s top five leagues to win their first 12 matches of the season. That and more from around Europe this weekend.

There were wins for PSG, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund this weekend, and a goal-fest in Serie A.

With around a quarter of the season having been played, the league tables are starting to take shape.

Suarez’s late show

Barcelona came from behind with just three minutes of normal time remaining to win 3-2 away at Rayo Vallecano.

Luis Suarez’s eighth league goal of the season had put the visitors in front after 11 minutes before Pozo and Alvaro Garcia turned the game around.

Ousmane Dembele came off the bench to score what looked like the goal which would rescue a point, only for Suarez to grab a second goal of the afternoon in stoppage time to win the game.

Real Madrid’s first league game after the sacking of Julen Lopetegui saw them beat Real Valladolid 2-0, although the goals were not exactly flowing in that one, as Vinicius Junior opened the scoring after 83 minutes and Sergio Ramos added a late penalty.

That result leaves Real in sixth place, seven points off Barcelona who top the table, and three points behind city rivals Atletico in third after they could only draw 1-1 at Leganes.

Elsewhere, Alaves’ excellent start to the season may be over as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Eibar, Real Betis drew 3-3 with Celta Vigo and Sevilla drew 0-0 at Real Sociedad.

Goals galore in Serie A

Napoli began the weekend of matches on Friday night in spectacular style by beating Empoli 5-1, with Dries Mertens scoring a hat-trick.

Inter went one better on Saturday as they beat Genoa 5-0, although two of their goals came in second-half stoppage time through Joao Mario and Radja Nainggolan.

Juventus’ margin of victory was only three goals to one, but they are six points clear at the top of the table and will not a care a bit. Paulo Dybala opened the scoring in that game after just one minute, assisted by the excellent Rodrigo Bentancur.

There were 4-1 victories for both Lazio and Torino against SPAL and Sampdoria respectively, while Fiorentina and Roma drew one goal apiece. Alessandro Florenzi equalized with just a few minutes remaining in the match meaning both sides are level on 16 points in eighth and ninth place.

The most dramatic game of the weekend took place at the Dacia Arena where Udinese’s Bram Nuyinck was shown a red card in the fifth minute of added time with the game goalless, before Alessio Romagnoli scored the winner for AC Milan two minutes later.

Suso grabbed his eighth assist of the season in that match as he continues to show off his creativity.

PSG continue to dominate

PSG became the first side in any of Europe’s top five leagues to win their first 12 matches of the season by beating Lille on Friday night.

Kylian Mbappe and Neymar put PSG two goals ahead before a late consolation was converted from the penalty spot by Nicolas Pepe.

PSG are now 11 points ahead of second-placed Montpellier, who pulled off the shock result of the weekend in France by hammering Marseille 3-0 on Sunday.

Gaetan Laborde scored twice and Paul Bastien Lasne added another as Marseille lost their sixth match of the season.

The game of the matchweek saw Saint-Etienne beat Angers 4-3, while Thierry Henry was made to wait another week for his first win as manager of Monaco as they lost 1-0 at Reims.

Lyon drew 1-1 with Bordeaux, Nice beat Amiens 1-0 and Nimes won 4-0 at Dijon.

Dortmund’s buffer restored

After looking like they might have got back on track last weekend with a victory over Mainz to close the gap at the top of the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich could only draw at home to Freiburg this week.

Serge Gnabry thought he had notched the winner with 10 minutes to go but then Lucas Holer equalized with 89 minutes gone.

Borussia Dortmund beat Wolfsburg 0-1 thanks to a goal from Marco Reus, and Lucien Farve’s side find themselves four points clear at the summit of the Bundesliga again.

Hoffenheim won 4-1 away at Bayer Leverkusen, Schalke beat Hannover 3-1 and RB Leipzig won convincingly 3-0 at Hertha Berlin, who now find themselves in eighth place after a good start to the season.

Borussia Monchengladbach sit in third spot having beaten Fortuna Dusseldorf 3-0.
